Can Successful Networkers Act Like Enlightened Messengers?

Have you heard of Plato's famous Allegory of the Cave? Man is represented as if chained inside a cave with only a fire behind him. He watches shadows on the wall as his reality of the world. In other words, he sits in darkness with the false light of the fire and does not realize that this view of reality is lacking. It is merely his existence because he knows no other nor offers any complaint.

Now imagine what would happen if these men in bondage were suddenly released and let out into the world. Some would let fear of the unknown take hold and want to return to the familiarity of the dark cave. Some would begin to realize their previous existence was a shadow of reality and unfulfilled lives. A few would welcome the sun, and have a far better understanding of what "truth about freedom" might mean.

Some may even want to return to the cave to free the others in bondage, and would be puzzled by people still in the cave who would not believe the now "enlightened" messenger. Many would refuse to acknowledge any truth beyond their current existence in the cave.

Here is my premise. In many ways, successful network marketers who know how to earn extra incomes can be considered enlightened messengers.

My job as a networker is to talk to people who are looking for more options but are not sure where to turn. Here are some of the things they say, like shadows that dance on their reality walls.

I'm unhappy as an employee because of downsizing, pay-cuts, staying broke for the rest of my lives. I'm smart enough but what are other people doing that I'm not?

I have problems paying bills, reducing my debt load, making family ends meet with less buying power. I feel like I'm working my fingers to the bone, but I still seem to be swimming against the tide and my income is sinking.

I am searching for a honest, reliable source of personal income and paying for my retirement just in case social security doesn't pan out.

Some people will realize, "What I've been doing so far has not taken me to my financial goals. How can I expect it will change in the months or years to come? Just imagine how many years I have you been in the job market or business. Just think, if I multiply that number times $1000, I couldn't write a check for that amount that would clear the bank! Sadly, there are too many people I know who could not do that either. What are we working for?

My first step is to listen and not to try and sell any company's program. That is more pressure and nobody starts a home business partnership with a virtual stranger. The most important asset in any business transaction is to build a relationship first. Too many internet marketers have compromised this golden rule in their zest for list-building.

Here is how my conversation goes after listening to these concerns.

First, I ask for a few minutes to share some good advice. Have you ever heard a prospecting script like this?

1. You may be hurting and inconvenienced right now, but you cannot be defeated unless you are mentally defeated. Stress comes from uncertainty…the cure is what to do NEXT.

2. You can survive best if you know the right action to take. You can build a home business once and get paid for years to come.The BEST SOLUTION is to make a well-grounded, well-informed decision to stop the stress and insecurities of a limited income.

3. You can participate in an exciting information economy where "intellectual distribution" is replacing the physical resources of the industrial manufacturing era. Let's focus on the positives. You can harness technology so top professionals can "work" on your behalf, anytime, anywhere, by sharing information tools. You do not require any particular skills or knowledge.

4. You are sitting in front of a "perfect storm of opportunity" for home business owners to change their financial futures. You are facing three of the fastest growing home business trends and all you need is to get your questions answered and make a well informed decision.

5. You have the chance to move beyond old habits and hearsay. You can choose between a recession lifestyle or an abundant future that is recession-proof. You .can overcome the poverty mentality and get energized by your life's potential. In fact, making the right decision is not an option...it is an urgent necessity.A wrong decision with a difficult home business can lead to a major loss of money, time and increased aggravation. Making no decision is the worst of all which can lead to continued confusion, apathy, denial, common excuses and empty dreams.

So, does this make sense so far?

People who are firmly committed to stay with their limitations are as strong as people who are determined to over rule problems and make changes happen.

It is all about that first step or two or three, but no more.

It's not only the early Greeks who understood the state of human existence will only seek transformation with education and experience that works.
