Preparing for a Paint Job
So, you’ve decided to start a new project in your home? Well, what better way to start than with new, freshly painted walls? It is always a challenge to choose the best colors that suit your personality, home, and decorating scheme, but with a few simple tips, you are sure to find the perfect match.
1) Take Your Atmosphere into Account Painting is a long, and fairly arduous job, and it's important to choose wisely from the seemingly infinite amount of tones and colors that are available to you. Unless you are planning on completely refurnishing your home in addition to painting your walls, always take your current furniture and decorations into account first and foremost when choosing your coloring scheme. With pictures and samples, you are always prepared to shop for your perfect color, and will always be able to get a second opinion! If the fabric for your furniture contains a busy print, it is often best to choose a paint color that matches the background. This is the best way to show that attention has been successfully paid, without producing an extremely calculated and overwhelming result.
3) Keep the Big Picture In Front of You When you think you may have found your perfect color, make sure that you locate or request the entire color grid that encompasses your specific hue. That way, you can get a feeling for the underlying tones, and the shades it can often be paired with. By doing so, you can easily choose a solid contrast for your furniture covers or carpets. Also, you can use a specific underlying tone as the base for your entire home, and simply switch colors from the grid for each bedroom. This can also be a great way to help choose out a good, solid contrasting color for trim and windowpanes!
4) Once You Finish Painting Make sure that you don’t stress over the initial shock of a new paint job. Most colors that aren't a variant of white will seem out of place and intimidating for a little bit after the job is done. Spend time in your new room, decorate it, and furnish it. You should be pleased with the outcome in no time!
