What Not To Do In Postcard Marketing

by Lynne Saarte

When creating your postcard printing project, there 3 fundamental flaws that you have to stay clear of to provide you with a marketing campaign that will generate a strong response to your ads. These postcard printing problems are:

Problem # 1: Relying too much on technology. Technology is a tool to help you create a quality and riveting postcard printing material. But it’s not the main component that will bring your business marketing success. You are. It’s all about your idea, your plan, your goal, and your design that’s going to work for you. Not your computer or software or any other technology.

I can’t stress it enough: technology can handle all the plus and additional features that can help you deliver a powerful and more compelling message. Nevertheless, it is still your message. You create your message on your postcard printing for your business. Before anything can take shape, you have to deliver the plan and the goal. It all begins with you.

Problem # 2: Relying too much on lame incentives. One of the weakest lines to ever hit postcard printing is the one you most likely have seen one time or another: “Call today for a free advice.” What about, “Visit our website to learn more”?

What do you think is the problem with these two? Yup. They’re worn out, overused and vague. Learn more of what? Moreover, everybody’s using the same lines so what makes you different from the others?

Another problem I could think of is that with the free advice, your prospective clients would expect it and you should be able to hand it out when the time comes. And since everybody in the business is using the same lines anyway, what makes you think they’ll even consider your ad from the rest? Plus, the Internet has a wide range of sites that can easily give out information to questions and issues that your prospective clients might need answers to. They don’t have to go to your office or call you to get them.

Whatever you do, do not offer lame incentives to your target readers in order to get leads and prospective clients to contact you. It won’t get you the response you are looking for.

Problem # 3: Relying too much on other businesses strategy. When in doubt, business owners do what they have done since time immemorial: copy what is already in the market. The same formula for postcard printing have been applied time and again. You want to stand out but you rely on the postcard printing strategy that worked with just everybody else. So what makes you different? That’s right. Nothing. Would you still believe that your prospective clients will choose you over the others? I don’t think so.

Being common and just like everybody is fine- if you’re trying to win the friendliest award in a beauty pageant. But you’re not trying to win everybody. You need to set your business above the level of your competition. Your postcard printing project can help you reach your goal. Unless you adjust and reposition your goals, your business would be just like anybody else- nothing new, nothing spectacular.
