Norm Goldman, editor of Bookpleasures.com and Sketchandtravel.com, conducted the following interview. Norma is also a regular contribution to lovetripper.com.

Good day, Shelley and thank you for accepting our invitation for an interview.

NORM: Please tell our readers something about themselves and about their knowledge concerning China.

Shelley: Born in China, I spent the first six years of my life in Beijing, a city that I always think of my first house. Although I moved to America and they went to school, I remain deeply connected with China through books, news, movies, family, and spending summers there every two or three years. During these summer trips, I often travel around the country and visited many places in Let's Go: China.

NORM: Would you consider China a good choice for a romantic vacation or wedding and honeymoon destination? Why?

Shelley: China is vast, to offer something for everyone, regardless of whether you are looking for a quick and weekends in Shanghai, a trip to China in the luxurious streets, or immersion in centuries, the traditions and history. But without waiting for Paris and the Caribbean, and China does not mean a romantic holiday, but the destination for the free spirit and adventure. No resorts or pampering here of excitement and romance vacation in China, there is a new culture and taking in the sand, as well as beauty.

For those who are ready to ditch conventional and leave the beaten path, breathtaking natural sights and unique cultural experiences await. Otherworldly landscapes familiar from many martial arts film (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero) can serve as a background for your personal love story as well. Ancient palaces, pagodas and temples invites visitors to step back in time, which stretches more than 5000 years. Cities such as Beijing and Shanghai proudly showcase their past with their future, with skyscrapers rising one after another, and urban culture to rival those of any American or European cities.

NORM: What is the best time to visit China in terms of weather conditions, costs, crowds, and the availability of flights from the U.S., Canada and Europe, and Australia, etc.?

Shelley: China peak travel times around Chinese New Year (some time in January or February, depending on lunar calendar), 1 May, July, August and first week of October. Best time to visit would be from late April until June, when the weather is warm, students still in school, and many agencies are still low season prices. The fall is also a pleasant time to travel without the crowds (but avoid the Oct. 1 week of rest), and see beautiful foliage, especially in the north.

Air travel in China is the most expensive between June and September. Even flying on May 31 and June 1, will be cheaper than flying. Flying September-May will be much cheaper flights. Plan ahead-cheap tickets for summer flights to China to sell in early March.

NORM: Could you give our readers a picture of the costs involved if travel happening in the U.S., Canada and Europe and Australia?

Shelley: China budget traveler's dream, with, with the exception of tickets, which can cost anywhere from US $ 600-1500. It is cheaper to fly from September to May. The best place to find low fares start of Chinese travel agencies in China to check the local Chinese newspaper or ask around to find their lists. Budgetary resources can often spend anywhere from US $ 2-10 per night per room in the hostel or basic room, depending on destination. Food may cost only $ 4 per person per day for food from street vendors and small family restaurants.

Of course, splurges and treats everywhere. Comfortable hotel room will cost about $ 25-50 a day, and generous suites range from US $ 60-150 per night. For US $ 8-25, a couple can dine at restaurants serving distinctive lover, a gourmet kitchen.

The cheapest and most convenient way to circumvent China by rail. Short trips can cost around $ 5-12 one way, while longer trips would cost up to $ 50. Expect to pay more than $ 100, but for private sleeper compartment for two people.

The number of domestic flights in China is booming. One end of the range of rates of 90-200 dollars, both rates are always a double fare.

NORM: If you had to choose 3-5 unrivaled location in China for a romantic holiday, honeymoon or wedding destination, what would they be and why?

Shelley: Jiuzhaigou: Nestled deep in the mountains in the northern province of Sichuan, "Valley of Nine Tibetan Villages known for its pristine lakes and waterfalls that sparkle spectrum of shades under the sun. You may remember the impossible blue lakes from the fight sequence filmed here in Hero. Nature lovers can hike under the shadow of snowy peaks, experience local Tibetan culture, as well as in nearby Songpan, embark on the horse tracks in the wild. Convenient tourist services nearby, offering everything from budget accommodation to five-star hotels.

Willows, gardens, pavilions, and delicately arched bridges dot the coast of West Lake, the ancient Chinese setting is the most famous love stories. Sip fragrant Dragon Well tea while dining at one of the oldest Chinese restaurants, which once served the emperor. Misty water and the city happy enough to do to anyone, if not nearby Shanghai promises to plunge back into modernity.

Yunnan: This province on the border with Vietnam and Myanmar is the ideal place for adventure, with its 22 colorful ethnic minority cultures and diverse natural landscapes. Its capital, Kunming, "City of Eternal Spring," enchants travelers with flowers on every street, but the true attractions are located in rural areas. Pack your gear for the trip to south tropical rainforests and rice paddies, dotted by Dai villages and gleaming Buddhist stupas. Northern Yunnan is better known as "Shangri-La, where red-robed monks walk the streets in the mountain villages and snowy peaks beckon in the distance.

Or the way to the legendary Tianshan Mountains overlooking "Heavenly Pool." Friendly Uighur musicians will be pleased to play a Uighur-style wedding celebrations, filled with tasty food, fresh grapes and melons, and a lot of singing and dancing.

Hong Kong: Hong Kong offers a vacation as sophisticated and interesting, as it's expensive. From luxurious shopping malls to street markets rife, Hong Kong easily combines class and chaos. Dinner cruises on Victoria Harbor, stylish hotels and restaurants, and endless clubs, bars and entertainment options ensure that you never run out of things to do. Macau lures travelers away with its many casinos and Portuguese-influenced cuisine and architecture, but you'll find yourself back in Hong Kong before long.

NORM: What should people know about the celebration of a wedding in China in terms of claims experience in various hotels, etc.
