Simple Church - God Didn't Descend From His Throne to Extol a Bunch of Inert Buildings

by Chris Keenan

No one likes to be mentioned in conversation by other people in a negative light, this is entirely natural. It's also rather normal to desire not to be misrepresented for who we are. Each of us yearns to be treasured for our distinct qualities that God has furnished us with. With that being said, let's consider the church…the one that Jesus Christ came to create here on earth?

In the New Testament, the Christian church is referenced as a bride and the body of Jesus Christ, but it's never mentioned as a building. Loads of folks againa and again bring up the topic of "going to church" as if the structure is the church. It would be a massive understatement to see this as a circumstance of a mistaken identity, because that would be exceedingly inaccurate. The chief concern is regarding identity pilfering and a dreadful misrepresentation of who God's children truly are.

The word "church" has been stolen and altered to symbolize structures made solely of inanimate, lifeless substances. Tens of millions of folks are educated to believe that they "go to a church building" in order to convene with God, although Jesus taught that "we are the temples of God and his spirit and life dwells in us."

Why is this topic of such worth to those who profess Jesus as their Lord and Saviour?

Jesus of Nazareth didn't show up here on earth to exalt and liberate a group of buildings. He journeyed to planet earth to liberate humans and bid them to convert to being children of the incarnate God. He came to encourage us, to provide us a sense of hopefulness, and motivate us to do better things.

His hopes for us were designed inside a context, and that context is a community of believers known as the "church." The church Jesus came to establish is a collection of family members that is referred to as the "priesthood of all followers of Jesus." This indicates that "all" Christians have a critical and satisfying part to play in moving forward the cause of Christ.

The word "church" as it is generally recognized, only permits a chosen few to be commendable for service. This indicates that the lion's share of individuals in institutional churches have almost nothing to contribute except to be good listeners.

The chief goal of the church community of believers in the New Testament is the education and reassurance of the followers of Jesus. My capability to raise your spirits is built on taking note of what is on your heart. Folks who feel valued and appreciated, are individuals who feel they've been fully heard.

The house, or simple church model empowers people to care for each other as they were designed to. It's normal and advantageous for folks to want to positively impact the lives of others. When we are easily able to build up our fellow brother and sister in Christ, we are constructing the real church, not some building made by human hands!
