3 Business Secrets That Will Make You More Money
Secret 1. - Advertise Using Google Adwords
In today's world, one of the most prolific ways to advertise your business is via an online search engine. One of the most prevalent web search engine in use today is Google - it has a significant percentage of the entire online search traffic.
Think about when you want to find something out, what do you normally do? You probably (if you are one of the majority) log on to your computer, or mobile device (smart phone or tablet) and search for what you want; e.g. if you wanted a plumber for a water leak you might search for one using Google, using a phrase like "local emergency plumber". When you are served up the search results, the listings near the top of the page (and there's also some to the right hand side), are paid-for adverts which are created by companies using Google's Adwords.
These paid-for adverts are 10 times (at least!) more likely to be clicked on than any of the lower ranked free listings, and as such will receive the most visitors, resulting in more business leads and sales prospects being collected. One of the great benefits of this type of advertising is that the cost is based on the click rate; i.e. whenever a user clicks on your advert, you pay Google an agreed amount, hence the term "pay-per-click". There is a complex algorithm that calculates the cost of each click, however as a rough guide you can expect to perhaps pay in the region of $1 - $5 per click - not a bad return if you can convert that click into a paying customer who will bring much more in monetary terms.
So, take action - get yourself an Adwords account and get started on your first adverts and feel the delight as you start to see the lead generation process begin, and watch those new customers arrive.
Secret 2. - Advertise Using Facebook Adverts
Almost everybody has heard of it, and currently half the population are using it. Think about that, half the Western world's population are logging on to this social networking site every day, spending on average 30 minutes to catch up with what's been going on within their respective networks, whilst at the same time consciously (and even unconsciously) reading adverts from various companies.
Now, when all is said and done, that is a fantastic audience in any medium, and especially if you are selling to the consumer market then it's a great place to advertise your wares. Despite its relative recency, Facebook has grown, and is still growing to become the biggest social networking forum on the planet, certainly within the English speaking world.
Adverts on Facebook are based more on imagery, as opposed to text (like Google Ads), with the advert's picture taking central role in attracting clients. The cost model for advertising on Facebook is similar to that of Google, although not exactly the same.
Again, similarly to Google, as the user you have complete control over who sees your adverts, and how much you are willing to pay for them to be served. It is not something that requires a corporate-like budget in order to achieve significant returns for your investment, you can run many successful advertising campaigns on relatively modest means.
So, don't put it off any longer - get that Facebook presence set up and start serving those money-making adverts for all those prospective customers.
Secret 3 - Bring Back Your Lapsed Customers
When was the last time you checked your customer list and looked to see when the most recent purchase was made by each one? If you have a business which has a reasonable number of customers, then I bet there are quite a few that are on your list. These customers are known as 'lapsed customers'.
Often we may think that customers stop buying from us due to something that we did wrong, or they didn't enjoy the experience of buying from us, however studies have shown this is not normally the case. More often than not, lapsed customers have simply let our business lapse from their conscious minds and would only be reminded if we were to contact them.
Remember that in any business, it is our responsibility as business owners to get in touch with customers and make them aware of what we offer, and not theirs. If a customer does not find us and buy from us, that's our fault - not theirs!
So, you need to dig out the details of all your lapsed customers and get in touch with them. Design a postcard or write a letter and make the headline something eye-catching, for example you could have a headline like "Was It Something I Said?", or "We Miss You". This will catch their attention and also resonate with their emotional side, making them more likely to get in touch.
In conjunction with your "We Miss You" communication, you must also present an irresistible offer for them, sort of a thank-you for returning to your company as a customer.
