Why You Should Relocate To Yorkshire

It's not all flat caps and whippets

Positioned on the eastern side of the north of the country, Yorkshire is England's largest county. It boasts wildly contrasting living areas from the sprawling urban expanse that covers a huge portion of West Yorkshire to the picturesque rural areas of the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorks Moors. There's a fierce pride amongst the inhabitants of this county, many of whom will not hear a bad word said about the place. So with that in mind, we look at the reasons that they are so delighted to originate from the county of the white rose and why you might consider living there.

History

Yorkshire has a rich and varied history, playing a key role in the political and economical advancement of the nation. The county is awash with architectural reminders to it's illustrious past with the iconic York Minster Cathedral, the Victoria Quarter in Leeds and the disused steel works in Sheffield. Historically the region also produced many sporting heroes, such as world renowned cricketers and world cup winning footballers.

Best Place To Live For History: York

Natural Beauty

The Yorkshire Dales cover a huge expanse of the north western area of the county and their status as a National Park confirms their undeniable beauty. The rolling hills, lush valleys and dramatic waterfalls make this an area that would appeal to anyone who is a fan of the great outdoors. There are also impressive coastlines that can be enjoyed in the north east of the county around the towns of Whitby and Scarborough.

Best Place To Live For Beauty: Ingleton

Excitement

Leeds is widely considered to be the 'modern' capital of Yorkshire due to it being the largest economic centre in the region. This has led to many of the city's buildings that previously housed the cities mills and factories to be regenerated to accommodate the diverse population that live there today. A visit to any letting agents Leeds confirms that these redevelopments have furnished the city with some stunning properties. The arts are flourishing in Yorkshire as well with bands like The Arctic Monkeys and The Cribs leading what was termed by the UK music press as the "Nu-Yorkshire Revolution".

Additionally, if it is gastronomic delights that get you excited, then there is no better county than this, it is home to the Wensleydale Cheese (made world famous by the Wallace and Gromit films) and a standard component of the national dish – the Yorkshire pudding. However, if you are a lover of spicy food, maybe looking for houses to rent in Bradford would be a wise idea as the city was crowned UK Curry Capital in 2011.

Best Place To Live For Excitement: Leeds
