The air sprayer is for automotive paint jobs, furniture, and woodwork in general. The mist it creates is perfect for the uniform application of paint. Overspray is another matter. Body shop painters paint inside of a special booth made for controlling overspray. An air compressor supplies the air.

If there is not enough slack in the hose, painters sometimes spill the bucket. Spilled paint costs money. Besides the cost of new paint, a spill puts a drop-cloth to the ultimate test; surprise flooring costs are not fun. For a uniform finish, it is important to use a uniform method. It is a good idea to take a few practice strokes in a spot that is not highly visible, or on a piece of scrap material. Preparing a container with paint cleaner ahead of time is best; disassembled parts soak over night, beginning as soon as possible.
