Charlotte, North Carolina is the 19th largest city in the United States with a growing population of 671, 588 to date. Otherwise known as “The Queen’s City” or “The Hornet’s Nest”, the city of Charlotte was first known in the year 1755 when two travelers named Thomas Polk and Thomas Spratt decided to settle in the area. It is considered the largest city in the whole of North Carolina and has a widely growing metropolitan area catering to different races and households. In terms of the financial industry, being housed by one of the premier financial institutions the U.S., Bank of America, Charlotte has become one of the foremost cities delving in the field of economics and investments.

Demographics show that more than half of the percentage of citizens living in Charlotte are mostly Non-Hispanic White, most of whom practicing the religion of Protestantism. Up to this day, Charlotte is known to be the “City of Churches”, being the hometown and native land of Billy Graham.

For the average family income, Charlotteans earn $59,452 every annum. Statistics also show that a male Charlottean earns about 35% more than the average female Charlottean; the city’s population being dominated by the male sex. Unemployment rate is at a mere 3.90% compared to the average national percentage of 4.60%. Demographics display recent growth in job opportunities of The Hornet’s Nest. The national average crime rate is also relatively low compared to that of Charlotte’s figures. Although this is true, the city only ranks 62nd among the most dangerous cities in the whole of United States, according to the 2008 City Crime Rankings of the Congressional Quarterly Press.

In terms of the field of Education, Charlotte prides itself in being the home of the University of North Carolina, which is considered to be one of the most notable educational establishments in the state as well as the country itself. To aid in the many schools’ curriculums, the city also has the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County that has a wide range of learning resources from books to electronic devices and media.

In service to transportation, the Charlotte Area Transit System or CATS, brings forth light rail transits and express shuttles for commuters. Bus services are also widely used as vehicles of transportation in the metropolitan area. The intercity rail operates three Amtrak routes with three trains: the Crescent train, Carolinian train and Piedmont train.

Sports-wise, earlier NBA team Charlotte Hornets got their name from one of the city’s nicknames. As of today, the well-known sport leagues in the city include the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats.

Charlotte city mortgage is moderately fair as the city’s real estate market is said to be doing great at present. The housing market presents lower rates with quality furnishes and excellent choices for relocation. The cost of living in Charlotte is low compared to other cities and states as well, which presents a plus side to those who plan to move to the QC.
