What's The Point Of Collecting Cannabis Seeds?

To grow or not to grow…

by Sam Qam

Nature is a powerful beast; she demands that everything grows and reproduces and grows some more and produces fruit or powerful psychedelic drugs or bananas. Like bananas, cannabis is also terribly satisfying and is fun to grow, yet is unfortunately illegal. So why then do people still insist on buying cannabis seeds in great numbers?

Fun

One reason is because that it is just fun to collect stuff. People collect stamps, roman antiques, high-heeled shoes, monkeys, porcelain toys, rare books, knitted jumpers and match boxes, so why not cannabis seeds. I guess the main thing is that they are pointless if you don't grow them, though if you think about it, what's the point in a stamp if you don't send it or a box of matches if you don't use them or a toy if you don't take it out of the box?

Growing

Of course some people are just down right cheeky and will buy cannabis seeds to grow them in a flagrant disregard for the law. They might do it in a cupboard in their garden shed, or they may do it in an underground factory in order to supply whole of Greater Manchester. Either way it's illegal.

Not Growing Yet

Some smart people collect them because they know that one day the law will change so that it is legal to grow and sell cannabis in the UK. They intend on having a huge selection of seeds ready so that when the law changes they can dump their seeds in a great big pot and curl up and watch their well-preserved seeds sprout into a great mountain of sticky green psychedelic goodness. The seeds themselves will also be worth quite a lot as, depending on how long it takes for the law to change, they could have gone extinct, save for the ones in your collection. Put them back on the market and you could make a killing from those desperate to taste the weed of days gone by.

Research

Special scientists love cannabis seeds from a genetic point of view, as it is quite easy to manipulate and to replicate traits. For this reason they use it in medical and other kinds of horticultural research such as the benefits of the THC in such variants as White Widow. Plus scientists are obviously still learning about its pain killing, nausea reducing and appetite stimulation properties for the benefit of people who live in a place where it is legal to use it for medical purposes.
