There are many reasons for having a cordless phone.
The phone rings! Two of you go to answer it. You have the single line tied to the wall phone. One of you answers and the other one tries to ask questions or to tell you what to say while hearing only one side of a two way conversation. Now, you buy a main station, plus one or two cordless phones and you are now in a position where you can hear and talk without having a (repeat bird) in your ear.
Think of a time when you were expecting a special call and you were at an other part of your home. It would be nice to answer it immediately. I carry my cordless when I am outside mowing the lawn.
Even better yet, with a stationary phone you can get messages on the answering machine that comes with it or If the call is from a distance, two of you could get on the phone at the same time and not tie up the long distance line (or your wallet as a matter of fact) and both of you could listen and talk together.
My boss always carries the phone with her so she can answer any time she is needed. But, if sometimes she can not, then another employee can answer the main line and take a message or answer the question that may arise.
Suppose you are getting directions from someone, by the time you have figured out north from south, east from west the person is telling you something else. Or suppose you are getting instructions from a teacher, it helps if you have another person listening. Two heads are better than one.
It helps immensely if you are on a conference call. To have your own phone helps when it comes to talking as sometimes the listener can not hear everything you might say if you just had a speaker phone.
The above are some of the very good reasons why you should have a cordless phone.
