Things To Do Under a Tree

by Tamara Jacobs

When the weather is nice, most people enjoy spending time outdoors. But being under the hot, glaring sun for too long can be exhausting. Those looking to spend a good amount of time outside would be well advised to find a nice tree and plant themselves underneath it. They might enjoy:

1. Reading:

Relaxing on a nice day with a book is one of life's wonderful little pleasures. Some people love reading on the beach, but I personally find the bright sunshine, and the oppressive heat very distracting. Sitting under the shade of a great big tree however, is comfortable.

2. Painting:

Nearly every painter in the world, no matter what their style has got to have painted a landscape at some point. And if they're going to spend the hours, days even, involved in painting a masterpiece they will want to find a nice, shaded place to sit or stand, such as a great big tree.

3. Writing:

Writers tend to find inspiration from their life experiences and vivid imaginations. Of course, there is no disputing that Mother Nature is one of the greatest inspirations of all. Whether it be the sound of crashing waves, the feeling of a breeze on your skin or the calm of a quiet surrounding, staring out into nature seems to really clear the mind and get ideas flowing.

4. Eating:

Spreading out a blanket in an open field is a nice way to enjoy a picnic. Another option is to curl up with a loved one under a tree and enjoy a nice romantic lunch. You can feed each other grapes, read each other poetry and give each other lots of kisses.

5. Hide:

A lot of people have personal attachments to particular trees. Maybe they grew up climbing them or have always run to it when feeling stressed, alone or upset. A tree can provide comfort by just being there, a solid place where one can rest, catch their breath, and free their mind from whatever is bothering them.

6. Climb:

Climbing trees is an activity usually enjoyed by children. They like the challenge of trying to reach the higher branches, the thrill of swinging, the freedom of sitting high above most peoples' line of vision. This love, this pastime, stays with many people well beyond their childhood. They rest within the branches of tree where they can read, paint, write, eat or hide.

Of course, trees need to be taken care of if they are to stay alive as long as we'd like them to. This is precisely why it is so important that tree owners should learn about, if not consult experts who can properly care for them.
