Who Your Site Links To Makes A Difference

by Kathy Jenkins

With regards to getting better search engine rankings and also a better page rank, everything about your site will count. One of the things that most people already know is that they have to have their site keyword optimized. You probably also know that creating links to your website will also be able to help you boost your search engine rankings along with your pagerank. There is however another factor that many people never think about about their site and their ranking.

There are many different elements employed by Google to figure out a websites position and while some are recognized many of them are not. One of the aspects that are known is that depending on what web pages your site links to can have a good or bad effect on how well your web page is listed in the results. Linking to particular websites that Google considers a bad site is an issue that is not going to enable you to rank your site well. When Google spiders your site and follows the link you have aiming to the other website, Google will think that you're in bed with the other site that they already banned. Now you will see that Google, having already banned the one website may take your website and remove it from their results, or perhaps worse they might end up banning your website as well.

But this in addition will work the other way around. I have in fact tested this specific theory out many times on a number of my Internet sites. And each time I would simply include a high authority link to another Internet site, about a week later I would end up jumping inside the search engine rankings. The exact jump in the actual rankings were generally different, but each site ended up with much better rankings than they had before.

One way I would do this would be to put a You Tube video to my site. By doing this not only are you generating a link to You Tube a website that Google owns, but you are also adding video to your content which Google additionally loves. Another thing you might do is to simply add a direct link right back to Google's web page. Using these little tricks you might find that your search engine positioning will rise in about a week or so.

Another thing you'll not want to forget about is that linking to poor Internet sites can hurt your rankings. Every now and then you will receive email messages from websites wanting to trade links, before you decide to agree you will really want to determine whether that Internet site is even indexed in Google. The website itself could have been banned from the Google search engine, which is precisely why it is not indexed. This may on the other hand not be the reason, because if this web page is a brand new site it's possible that Google just has not found the site yet. Either way the link isn't going to be doing you any good so don't exchange links with websites that are not listed in Google.
