With outdoor physical fitness activities, you don't have to go to the gym for a workout. Heading outside is one of the easiest ways to get into shape and often much less difficult to stick with. Some people just don't like the gym atmosphere and the sameness of the environment. But when you choose outdoor physical fitness activities, you can step out of the building and into better health. Here are some easy ideas.Running and walkingAs some of the cheapest and easiest of outdoor physical fitness activities, running and walking can be done anywhere at any time. This affords you the maximum flexibility in terms of your schedule – and you can get started today. Simply wear a sturdy pair of athletic shoes and start off slowly to begin your journey to fitness. Most beginners find that starting with walking is helpful and then slowing adding spurts of running will build up their stamina and endurance.Start by walking for as long as you can, then add one minute to your time every day you walk again. As you get stronger, start running for short portions of your walk until you can run for longer and longer periods of time.HikingIf you live in an area with a lot of hills and woods, you might want to add hiking to your list of possible outdoor physical fitness activities. Hiking is a great solitary practice as it allows you to be perfectly quiet with yourself and with nature. Simply bring some water and extra food with you, as well as a compass or map to make sure you don't get lost along the way. A good sturdy pair of hiking boots can help too, though some hiking trails are now paved to make it easier on everyone using them.BikingMost of us think that biking is reserved for our childhood, but biking is one of the most popular outdoor physical fitness activities today. And you don't even have to buy an expensive bike to get outside and start pedaling. Just head out onto the streets of your neighborhood or start biking to the grocery store instead of driving. Even adding small spurts of biking is better than nothing at all. When you choose outdoor physical fitness activities, you choose to get some fresh air along with your fitness. And the best part is that this gym is always open, rarely crowded and doesn't expect you to dress to impress.
