Do It Correctly And Article Submission Will Get Your Site On The First Page Of The Google
Writing and submitting articles to the article directory sites is an established SEO technique but far too many individuals fail to get results because they rush in without doing their research.
The goal for most website owners is to achieve a steady flow of free traffic and that entails having your website displayed on the first page of the natural search results for the major search engines, including the big three of Google, Yahoo and MSN.
Some years ago that was not too herd even in quite competitive markets however nowadays it has become very much harder as the Internet has grown rapidly and the search engines are now very much more sophisticated at assessing websites and determining just which websites should be given high.
SEO is a complicated business nowadays and entire books have been written on the subject. One thing, however, which almost all of the experts agree about is the importance of slowly and steadily building links to your website and one of the most effective ways to do this is by writing articles and then submitting these to a variety of article directory websites. But, there is a right way and a wrong way of doing this.
Your starting point is to write a number of articles on a variety of topics related to the theme of your website, with every article ending with a resource box which provides links back to your website. In this brief article we will assume that you are familiar with the ins and outs of article writing and so we do not intend to look at this particular subject. Our attention here is focused upon how you go about submitting your articles to the article directory sites.
There are a variety of opinions here and, as with anything else in the world of SEO, you would be well advised to try out various different approaches and carefully document what you do and the results you get. Once you have accumulated sufficient data you will discover that it is a quite simple thing to see precisely what works and what does not. An alternative approach is just to listen to what other people have to say on the subject but the difficulty here is that there is a mass of misinformation around either from those who have little or no real knowledge and are just trying to sell you something or from people who want to deliberately mislead you because they see you as their competition.
The first route is to hand submit your articles. With literally hundreds of article directories at your disposal this really is not a viable route, unless you restrict yourself to submitting only to the major, established and high traffic directories. This is certainly possible and indeed there are many people who believe that this is the best route because they argue that most article directories have little standing in the eyes of the search engines and so few visitors that they will attract little traffic to your articles and not do much to get your articles picked up and distributed to other websites.
The second route is to submit your articles to a wide range of directories which means using a submission service or some type of submission software.
There are several submission services, but only a small number will provide you with a good service and leave you confident that your articles will be submitted to a specified list of sites within a reasonable period of time. The problem with submission services is that they require you to commit yourself to a monthly or annual payment and they are very expensive.
TurningWhen it comes to submission software, there are once again a variety of choices open to you from the quite expensive to the extremely affordable. If you feel that this is a route which appeals to you then you need to check out various options and to look carefully at precisely what each product will and will not do. For example, does the software semi-automate or fully automate the submission process? How many article directories will the program submit to? Can you add your own list of directories to the software? Does the software provide you with a submission record so that you can see at a glance how successful every submission has been?
A final consideration is whether or not you should submit the same article to the directory sites, or should create a number of 'unique' articles from your original article so that every directory gets a different version of your article? A lot of people will tell you that it really does not matter and that the current debate about duplicate content is considerably overblown. Other people however will tell you that, although it might not seem to be important in the short run, in the longer run the search engines will discount many of your links as they find that they are from identical articles. Once again the secret here is to test for yourself and see just what results you get.
Should you decide that submitting unique articles is the best way to go then you will have to investigate the wide range of article rewriting software available. Once more take the time to look at each program very carefully. The vast majority of software programs are very fast and easy to use, but also create what are obviously 'machine' written articles. However, there are some software programs which, despite the fact that they do take a little more work, create some first class results. You can also get some software programs which will not only create unique articles but also 'package' them for import into some of the article submission programs.
There is no doubt that submitting articles really does work when it comes to building links for your website and will certainly bring in free search engine traffic. You do however need to setup a submission process which fits in with your budget and work routine and that means testing and tweaking the system until you achieve the results you want.
