They also have money in their pocket to surround themselves with memorabilia from their favorite shows.Taking that one step further, today’s parents love the fact that their children are enjoying many of the same shows or remakes of shows that they enjoyed as kids.When I realized that most anything that is popular in the Entertainment Industry will have products associated with it that sell successfully on eBay, I tuned my “eBay filter” ( this is the filter that I “install” in my mind every day that evaluates each product or idea I come across during the day as a potential product to sell on eBay) to keeping track of what is hot in the entertainment industry and ferreting out what related products are selling on eBay.Let’s get back to the Star Wars Trilogy for a moment. Back in January I was at a Trade show and came across a Vendor who had a bunch of Lego Pens tucked away in a corner. They had been a rep for this item, but were closing them out. I knew that they would fetch a decent price on eBay, but more importantly, I also knew that the Star Wars Trilogy was being released this September on DVD. With that in mind, I bought their remaining stock and held on to it until the new DVD set was released.I bundled the set of pens together and they are selling like hotcakes.Why did I wait until September to sell them?Because even though Star Wars is an ever popular movie, I knew that the release of the Trilogy DVD would ignite even more interest in Star Wars memorabilia and this would drive prices up.So how do you find out what is hot in the Entertainment industry and even better, what is going to be hot in the upcoming months?First we will look at the “off-line” method and then we will look at the even more powerful “on-line” method.Off-line ResearchOne way to find out what is currently trendy is to keep your finger on the pulse of the entertainment industry. Reading the paper, reading the entertainment magazines and watching the entertainment shows on TV will start to help you become an expert in your “field”.It is here you will find all the information you need on what movies, TV shows, entertainers are sizzling hot and which ones are only lukewarm.You can also find all this information online by doing some simple Google searches.Once you find out who and what is hot – go to eBay and start searching for related products. As you start finding products that are top sellers, you can now go about finding a source for those types of products.Also don’t discount the vintage and collectible market.I just read an article in the paper the other day about the 30th anniversary of Hello Kitty. The article talked about the amazing popularity of Hello Kitty and how that market has now spread to teenagers and adults.I already sell some Hello Kitty items, but now I am on the search for more Hello Kitty merchandise both wholesale and vintage. Hello Kitty products from 30 years ago are in demand.I also know because of that article, that my target market is not just elementary school girls. That there are teenage girls and their moms looking for Hello Kitty products.What Do I Sell.com TIP:Every time I go to a Gift or Trade show, I pick up every brochure/catalog that I am even remotely interested in. When I was at a trade show this summer, I happened to pick up a Hello Kitty catalog from a vendor. At the time I wasn’t thinking about expanding my Hello Kitty Product line, but grabbed the catalog anyway.After reading this recent article, I am now very interested in expanding my product line. And now I have a supplier lead to start with because I grabbed the catalog a couple months back.This underscores the reason why it is important to get on Vendor mailing lists for a host of product catalogs or get on their email notification list.You never know when a supplier list you are already on will have exactly the product you are looking for.On-line ResearchAnother way to find out what is popular in the Entertainment Industry is by doing a daily or weekly watch on the Lycos Top 50 at:http://50.lycos.com/A quick look at what’s hot in Entertainment on the Lycos Top 50 list tells me that Pokemon, Hillary Duff, Dragon Anime, Paris Hilton, Baseball, Golf – Ryder Cup and College Football are what’s happening in Entertainment.
