Trade Show Exhibiting, Two Days to Go
Preparing to exhibit at a trade show takes considerable time and advance planning, if you are going to make a success of it.
As the date for the trade show approaches there is a lot of work to be done to ensure everything goes off smoothly. The last thing you need is a sudden rush to get there; if you are running late you can sure other barriers will end up being put in your way which will make the situation worse and increase the stress levels of both you and your team.
It's important to remember to set aside the two days prior to the start of the trade show; you and your team need to be in situ, so you can go over everything and complete the final check list. Make your way to the venue ensuring you have two clear nights prior to the start of the trade show. Check in to your hotel and arrange to meet for a pre-dinner drink with your team.
Spend a leisurely evening with your team checking through things that need be done the next day. This will include getting to the venue and having a stroll around the trade show floor to check out where all the amenities are. It's also a great time to make a note of where competitors are and the location of companies that could be usual for reciprocal referrals. The only people around will be the trade show organisers and those companies setting up there booths.
Depending on your arrangements, you will either need to set up your trade show booth, or if you have made arrangements for it to be set up for you, you will need to check everything is to your satisfaction.
Make certain that all the electrical items work properly and any visual displays are in the correct places. Ensure the name of your company is clearly displayed above your booth. Once you have set the booth up walk away from it and then approach it from different angles. The idea for doing this is to make sure you booth stands out and the name of the company is clearly visible from various directions. It a time to check that your booth looks enticing and to make any final adjustments before the trade show opens the following day.
The evening before the trade show should be a time for you and your team to run over what is expected during the trade show. Make certain they are all clear as to what is required and they all fully understand the role they will be playing. It's important that any issues are raised and clarified the evening before; it will be difficult to deal with these types of issues during the trade show.
Make certain that everyone of the team get an early night. They will need to be up early the following day (make certain they all have a good breakfast) and it will be a very long and tiring day.
