How To Choose A Luxury Tour Operator

by Matt Coe

Are you going on holiday this year and want to spoil yourself and have a bit of luxury on your trip.

You could just go to your high street travel agent but these usually deal with package tourists going to big and busy resorts, although a few are now starting to offer more boutique style luxury holidays.

With the rise of the internet you can now buy anything you can think of online and this includes holidays. The great thing about this is that as long as they are ATOL and ABTA licensed and bonded your holiday is protected in case anything were to happen, say the company was to go bankrupt which is happening more often now as you see many sites offering a week's holiday to Turkey, Half Board including flights for £150.

You should try to avoid these sites but you make want to take the risk if they are ATOL members as you will get your money back if the worst was to happen, although keep in mind that it could take up to 6 months to get it back..

The ATOL licence allows companies to package their own holidays which allows them to offer you a better price as you can be flexible with dates and airline, also usually by buying them together means that you will get a better price than booking flight and hotel separately..

There are now several websites that sell trips with luxury holidays being their niche, they will sometimes hand pick the hotels and destinations to ensure the quality of holiday that you will receive. Although some will just show you everything that can possible offer so it is best to shop around and look for a site which cares for the customers holiday experience rather than profit..

As luxury tour operators only sell their holidays online and in a certain niche means that the staff they employ will be specialists in the area rather than trying to get a basic knowledge of a vast array of holidays and destinations at other travel agents..

Booking online can also mean that you can get your holiday cheaper as the companies overheads could be a lot smaller as they do not have to pay for shops on a busy high street with several staff.

In conclusion if you are looking for a luxury holiday this year remember to look out that the company you wish to book with are ATOL and ABTA members, do not sell at too good to be true prices and you have the confidence with the tour operator that they are specialists in the luxury travel market.
