by Gail Leino

A class reunion is a great opportunity for classmates to reminisce about the old days while speaking on the present. Typically, class reunions parties are thrown every 5 years with the 10-year high school reunion being the most popular.

One important point, is to make sure that the location is some where the majority of classmates can easily get to. For organizers of the class reunion party, the types of venues to hold the class union party are limitless, e.g., beach, hall, pool party, and park. The summer months are the best times to hold the class reunion parties because it gives all classmates the opportunity to enjoy each other's company in pleasant weather.

Party supplies and decorations - Class reunion party supplies and decorations should include invitations indicating that the class reunion is approaching. The Class Reunion party invitations should start by letting everyone know that the reunion date is coming soon. Send invitations several weeks before the schedule date of the class reunion so classmates can prepare travel arrangements. Class reunion invitations should have the graduating year, school colors, and team mascot. Other options include a photograph of the school classmates graduated from. Encourage classmates to wear school colors (sweaters, t-shirts, spots jerseys) to the party. For those who do not have anything to wear, pass out school t-shirts and other school related clothing items.

Depending on the class reunion location will determine the type of party decorations. The Class reunion parties located outside may include various streamers, balloons, paper lanterns, or a general luau theme. Post various classmates pictures from the yearbook or class photos in the party location as well. No matter where the class reunion takes place, ensure there is a banner with the class year with a nice welcome.

Class Reunion party Games & Activities - A trivia contest on the year graduated is a fun way to get all classmates involved in the party. Include fun trivia questions on movies, music, pop culture in general along with questions related to fellow classmates. Other games include a scavenger hunt, karaoke contest, and name the person. Place old photos of classmates on a board or wall and see who can identify the classmates in relation to the childhood photos.

Serve refreshments of all different types to the guests. For those class reunion parties held outside, grilling hot dogs, chicken, and other meats makes for excellent eating. The amount of food available will depend on the class reunion size. Make sure the paper products are in the school colors.
