Want More Energy? Get Rid of That Clutter!

5 Simple Tips for An Organized Home and Less Stressed You

by Patricia Wagner

Did you know that a clean orderly home can give you an enhanced sense of well-being? Living in a disorganized mess can make you feel disorganized too. Your home is meant to be a haven from the stress of the outside world, so why not do what you can to make it a more restful place?

You do want your home to be a peaceful place to retreat from the cares of the world, don't you? Stuff stored all over the place will take away from that ideal feeling. An organized home can usually help you feel better.

However, your house may already be very tidy and clean, but the tips in this article may still help you to improve how you've organized it.

For your home to become de-cluttered, it needs to be well organized, so here are some organizing tips for you:

1. Too much stuff stashed around signals that you need to either put it away or throw it away. You might also consider giving it to a local thrift store, such as one run by the Salvation Army.

No matter how many square feet are in your home, it will appear to be more spacious if you have less things sitting around taking up space.

2. First of all, you'll need to take a trip to your local stationary or household goods store to purchase appropriate containers to stash the stuff you want to keep. You may also purchase these containers on the internet.

Take the containers home and place excess items in them. Put them in closets of the rooms where these items are usually kept so that they are nearby in case you need to use them.

These storage units can be brightly colored, such as colorful crates to be used in your children's rooms. You can also purchase shelving units to display your children's favorite toys and books.

Consider using office trays in your home office.

3. Throw junk mail away immediately.

If you're like most people, you have a steady stream of trash coming into your home through your mailbox. You will need a large waste paper basket to throw it whenever it arrives. Be sure not to handle this unwanted mail more than once, but get rid of it right away.

4. Organizing your collectibles can be very rewarding.

Here's how to begin: walk around the room where your collectibles are displayed and pay attention to how many you have to dust. It's usually more appealing to limit your collectibles to three items on an end table. Have a rotating plan for your collectibles so that they are not all displayed at once. That way, your furniture will actually show instead of being totally covered with stuff. You might be surprised how much easier it will be to dust. You'll also wind up having a place to put things down when you want to do so.

Discover the benefits of having glass-covered display cases to put your collectibles in so they don't collect as much dust and can be seen more prominently.

There are other types of furniture that also have glass fronts where you can display your special collection. Why not investigate them?

5. For an uncluttered look to your home and a more spacious look, consider investing in fewer large pieces of furniture rather than a lot of smaller ones.

When you are done organizing your home, you will find that it has become a more restful place to be. The time and effort you put into removing the clutter will be well worth it.
