True Church - The Main Key to Giving Rise to a Strong and Healthy Church
I strongly believe that our long standing thoughts about growing the church are way off base. As Christ followers, we have consumed far too much time looking for people's defects, and too little time on creating the kind of environment that would allow them to flourish. If followers of Christ generate the type of environment that allows individuals to flourish, God Almighty will create his church. The range of gifts God the Father has given each and every person will have a place to grow if they are cultivated in the right soil.
In tons of ways, folks are very similar to the rest of God's handiwork. In the same manner as a plant in the garden that supplies food, we have the ability to produce fruit. And in the exact same manner as the garden plant, we possess absolutely no control over how the Lord Jesus made us in the womb. What we most definitely have loads of control over though, is the soil or ground we will be planted in.
As children of the living God, we also have the power to affect what sort of soil, or environment, our siblings in Christ will exist in. We are lucky to be the co-creators with God of the church environment and the degree of it's overall health.
We often get caught up trying to preach people into superior behaviour, when the real solution lies in our power to create the kind of environment for them to want to improve and do better.
This is exactly why the simple church paradigm is so effective in changing lives. Human beings are the main focus of the gathering of Christians, not the sound implementation of various programs. Members of the body of Christ have the opportunity to be heard and are able to reduce the feelings of seclusion that plague such a large number of us in modern society. Christian believers are touched by the reality that others are opening up their home to them, are welcoming them into their lives.
The warm feelings folks encounter from being in this kind of setting, helps to foster an improved outlook regarding life. When folks have better feelings about life, they are generally more willing to make constructive changes that are beneficial not only for themselves, but the community they live in.
When we turn our chairs towards each other, we send out messages of hope that all humans urgently need to be receiving on a regular basis. We need to know that we are important to others, that we have signifigance and something to add to people's lives.
It's imperative that we be recognized much less for our failings and issues, and a lot more for our eagerness to openly serve others. Our Christian communities ougth to be highlighting the innate value of each Christian believer due to their saving relationship with their Heavenly Father. An essential key to creating a vibrant house church culture, exists in our ability to create a kind, loving environment for people to grow in, not better programs.
