Personal Safety Tips

The best way to take charge of your safety is to avoid potentially dangerous situations. Criminals usually don't put much thought into an assault or other crimes. Almost never is their violence "perosn specific". They are looing for an "easy mark", vulnerability, someone who is not aware of their surroundsings. Being prepared with a well thought out plan of action can take you and your family off the target.Being aware of your environment at all times is the best way to guard your perosnal safety. No matter if you are in your car, or on the street or at home always be alert of your surrounds.You should always have a plan. Play the "what if" game, such as where you would go and what you would do should a dangerous situation occur.Always trust your instincts. In most cases a large percentage of people who have been assaulted had a feeling something was wrong just before they were attacked.If your are out walking, running, or jogging alone, Never wear headphone radios, or other devices that would make it difficult for you to hear or sense an attacker. Be alert at all times.If someone does try an attack you, yell "Fire" instead of "Rape" or "Help", more people will respond to "Fire" than anything else.Also be sure and let everyone know around you, that you do not know the assaliant so they will not mistake the encounter for a domestic quarrel.When traveling always keep your vehicle in good running condition. Consider having a celluar phone, or CB radio in your car. If you plan an overnight trip or long distance trip, make sure you leave a schedule of your trip with friends or family to let them know where you will be staying along with a telephone number where you can be reached.Always remember to consider the weather and driving conditions when you plan a road trip and familiarize yourself with the route you will travel before you start out. Carry an emergency kit, a working flashlight and jumper cables in the car at all times. These may come in handy.When at home you also need to be careful and aware of your surroundings. You want to make sure you home is a safe place to live and secure when you're not home.When approaching your home, if you suspect something is wrong, leave the area at once. Always keep the exterior of you house well lit and always lock the overhead doors on your garage, an intruder can easily roll them up, to get inside.When planning a trip, always stop the deliver of your mail and newspaper. Buy a few timers or light-sensitive sockets the will light your house at night when your not there. These items can be considered spy gear and you can purchase these and many more spy gear products to help keep you, your family and home safe and secure.If your a single woman living alone, you should avoid publishing your first name in the telephone directory or listing it on your mailbox. Also you want to purchase a few spy gear items such as mace, or other surveillance devices. If you get suspicious calls, hang up. If they continue, contact the police and the telephone company. The telephone company may be able to put a spy gear device on your phone to trace the calls.When having your car serviced, valet parked, lock your glove compartment and give the attendant only your valet key. (Remember: your home address is on the registration in your glove box.)Use these personal, home and safety tips to help keep you and your family safer.
