What turned things around for the New York Yankees was the return of pitcher Roger Clemens. They have become one of the best teams in baseball since the Rocket, Roger Clemens returned to the Bronx. In the month of June the Yankees record has been 10-2 and are sporting of the best records in all baseball.

In the 2007 baseball season, the Rocket has only appeared once in pinstripes so far, and Clemens cannot take direct credit for all the recent success of the Yankees. Although, with the presence of The Rocket both in the team's clubhouse and on the mound, the confidence level among the Yankee players has risen and is largely attributable to their winning streak.

In Pittsburgh a week ago, Clemens made his Yankees' debut and the Yankees won 9-3, where the Rocket allowed only three runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and lasted six innings. This was after a scar-tissue injury to his right groin which caused a brief setback to his baseball career.

The Rocket has won the Cy Young Award seven times and will return to the mound on Friday night where he faces the New York Mets at Yankee Stadium for an interleague battle. The New York Mets and Clemens have plenty of experience against one another from his days playing in Houston, where he posted a 3-5 record with a 5.09 ERA in ten starts. Clemens has to be much better than his previous record against the
hard-hitting Mets' lineup for the New York Yankees winning ways to continue.

Clemens could surrender three or four runs on Friday night and still escape with a win over the Mets, only if the New York Yankees' big sluggers continue hitting like they have done already in June. In June, Bobby Abreu is back to his old form and is hammering the ball after hitting a low .208 in May where he only drove in nine runs in 28 games. Now, Bobby Abreu is batting at a .457 clip, with two home runs and 13 RBI in 12 games. The Baseball Statistics do not lie!

Also in June, the bat of Alex Rodriguez has come alive! In April, Rodriguez smacked 14 home runs, and in May, Rodriguez hit only five homers a really low month for him. The "what have you done for us lately crowd" and also the New York media where starting to talk. But, in June the power back for Rodriguez, and in only 12 games he has six homers and plating 21 runs.

The New York Yankees have finally crawled out of the AL East basement and with Roger Clemens, "The Rocket" on board plus with the offense gearing up, and actually climbing over the .500 mark on Wednesday, the New York Yankees are not done yet! The New York Yankees are only 4.5 games back of the Wild Card. The first pitch for Clemens' second start is on Friday.
