Though she certainly doesn't call herself an expert or believe she knows everything there is to know about running a company, Dafnie Driscoll offers advice for fellow executives. "Be observant," says Dafnie Driscoll. "That's the key."
Indeed, being observant is what has allowed Dafnie Driscoll to be as successful as she is today. By gaining a deeper understanding of any situation, Dafnie Driscoll practices being a good observer and is thus able to make calculated risks that more often than not benefit the company.
Dafnie Driscoll also believes in being observant of the personal lives of employees. "I like to be involved; I'm a hands on type of person," says Dafnie Driscoll. According to Dafnie Driscoll, being involved in the lives of employees allows employers to empower their workers by letting them know that the company cares about their wellbeing. When an employee feels valued by a company, Dafnie Driscoll argues, the employee is more productive and loyal to the company's end goal.
This was always apparent at Scotland Manufacturing Inc., where many employees had worked for long-term periods thanks to their satisfaction and enjoyment of working under Dafnie Driscoll's leadership. In short, they loved their jobs because their employer, Dafnie Driscoll, made it possible. "Change comes from the top," says Dafnie Driscoll. "It's up to executives to shape and mold the culture of their business."
Aside from being involved and observant within a company, Dafnie Driscoll encouraged all executives to be observant of their competitors and the marketplace. By staying up to date on the competition, it allows companies to improve their services to meet the needs of customers. "This is an ever changing world and industry," says Dafnie Driscoll. "All businessmen and women need to stay current."
Dafnie Driscoll also encourages all executives to be involved in the community and other selfless endeavors.
