Marketing On Twitter - Is It A Lucrative Way To Build Your List?
Many years ago, there was a great promotion for Twitter marketing tools. It was considered that you could use Twitter as an effective method to grow a list of prospective buyers for your products or services. Cutting through the hype, just what kind of results can you look forward to after making use of these Twitter marketing tools? We are going to talk about Twitter marketing and whether or not it is worth your time and expense as part of your internet marketing campaign.
Anxious to step up my product sales, I went ahead and began Twitter marketing to grow a big list of followers hoping to turn them into purchasers. Not only did I put out money to register in programs that would bring me followers but I invested in a few softwares to help promote the products I was selling. By the time I was finished, I'd invested in something like eight programs to carry out some of the grunt work involved in Twitter marketing.
One of these software tools was an automatic 'people follower' on Twitter with the aim that some of those people would follow me also. People who were not following me on Twitter would be automatically taken off my follow list by another program I had purchased. This would allow me to follow many people again to get them to follow me. Amongst other programs I got hold of, there was one program which automatically tweeted a blog post just as soon as it was posted to my blog. I must say that the combined effect of utilizing all these tools together generated superb results because each program did as advertised. I was quickly brought down to earth when I looked at my spreadsheet and saw that I wasn't actually making any money! Daily I would post more or less ten blog entries knowing that they would then automatically be shown on Twitter as well. Believing that more blog entries would increase my blog traffic, I arranged for my daily blog posts to be made automatically both to my blog and to Twitter also.
Well, let me share my results: After three years utilizing these methods, I had gained about 10,000 Twitter followers. You'd probably be very pleased to have that number of followers, but there's more to come. During those three years I had affiliate links to my products on more than fifteen thousand posts in my Twitter account. Apart from that, I did no additional promotion for that blog, as a matter of fact I didn't even ping the new blog entries to see how good Twitter was could be. Exactly how 'good' it was rapidly became evident: after 3 years only two affiliate sales generated $46.74 plus a whopping $9.10 for Adsense. With just 2 - 4 visits per day originating from Twitter, perhaps this is not surprising.
Even with close on 10,000 Twitter followers and using software automation, it seems that this is not sufficient to generate money marketing with Twitter. At the end of the day I'm now out of money for the Twitter marketing tools I invested in because my dollar return was so dismal. There could be other more successful methods of promoting on Twitter, but from my experience, using automatic software tools is not one of them.
