The Reality Behind Street Self Defense Exposed!

by Stephen Graystone

I want to talk to you today about real incidents I have been involved in and witnessed that have made me more aware. I want to teach you about the real deal when it comes to fighting for your life. There are real skills you must incorporate into your person to be able to fight non stop up to two to three minutes and then be able to survive whatever damage you have sustained. I have seen people get stabbed many times, I've seen people die. I've had a friend that was shot and killed. I have done time in prison and I am about to teach you some real facts and information you should know when it comes to fighting for your life.

Reality behind street self defense tip #1 - When someone pulls a blade on you, the very best thing to do is maintain distance and use whatever you can in your environment as a shield or weapon. If you are cornered and your opponent is closing in on you for the kill by all means do anything to save your own life. But if you can run away from a person that whips out a blade before he starts to attack you with it, run. There are fancy knife defense techniques on the internet and in Hollywood movies, but I have seen 4 people get stabbed. Luckily all 4 people survived but it was only because people in the area performed first aid. One of my friends got stabbed by some crack head and I was the guy that kept him from bleeding out. Let this be your lesson, if you see a blade, get the hell out of there.

Reality behind street self defense tip #2 - Freezing in fear or going into panic induced shock is not a good way to defend yourself. That is why actively training in sparring or practicing combat with friends or in a dojo is essential for your survival in a real life or death attack. Let me tell you, right before you get attacked or engage in combat you will get one hell of an adrenaline dump. Most people will succumb to the fear and panic of it and freeze up, allowing their assailant to do whatever vicious harm to them as they please. Instead you need to actively practice combat with real life scenarios to be better prepared for the adrenaline dump that triggers your fight or flight response.

Reality behind street self defense tip #3 - Knowing how to perform martial arts techniques is mandatory. This means you have to know how to throw a proper punch physically by rehearsing it. Yeah, you can read this article and claim yourself to be an expert, but if you don't go out there and practice techniques or hit a punching bag to rehearse and coordinate your muscles for combat you will have nothing going for you in a real life or death fight. You have to actively practice your kicks, your punches, your timing, your distancing. You can read articles and watch videos forever but until you practice you won't be prepared for real violence when it comes into your life.

Another thing I recommend is getting first aid training because you never know if you will have to save your own life or someone elses. These are mandatory tips when it comes to reality street self defense and I hope you genuinely learned something.
