A Pulled Quad Is Rarely A Minor Injury

A person's quadriceps muscles are comprised of countless fibers, and when one or more of these fibers rip it is called a pulled quad. The quadriceps are four different clusters of muscles which span from the front of your waist all the way down to your knee.

Working and helping out around your home could be impossible if you have a pulled quad, since it will restrict your ability to extend your leg. You can walk softly in many cases, but attempting to do more with your leg could result in major discomfort. It is always in your best interest to get checked out by a doctor to find out what the optimal road to recovery is.

This variety of injury often materializes when someone is bending their leg and something else makes it bend in another direction. This strain tears your muscle fibers immediately and it will be a while before they are capable of mending themselves. If you do not see the outside force coming ahead of time and cannot prepare for it, you could get hurt a lot worse.

Not every basketball player has had a pulled quad, but if they have not it is quite likely that they have witnessed someone else on the court sustain one. It is quite common for numerous players to jump for the ball simultaneously, and when their legs collide it is dangerous. Landing flat on the ground is not always easy, especially if there is a player or two that has fallen down and cannot get out of the way.

When a baseball is hit, all of the players need to blast into action instantaneously; this will certainly take a toll on their quad muscles. Throwing the ball could also lead to pulled muscles, particularly when pitchers plant their foot on the mound and push off as hard as possible. If a player is inactive over a long period of time and then abruptly has to take off at full speed they could easily pull a muscle.

When the sensation of pain is coming from below your knees and above your ankle, odds are that your quads are fine and that you are suffering from shin splints. You should speak to a trainer or a physician as soon as you can to avoid additional problems; they will do what they have to in order to verify the source of your pain and spearhead your recovery.
