by Delana Lautieri

While martial arts is well known in the United States, many people are still not familiar with it. There are several kinds of martial arts, and any combination of them are part of mixed martial arts, where the body is the sole weapon of the sport. Although you do not need to know each of the martial art forms, the more you know, the more effective you can be. It is simple to wipe out your opponent since you have many options for a counter attack.

There's a martial art style called muay thai, also referred to as thai kick boxing, that has primarily kicking and punching moves. It's actually a martial art style, that is a standing sport, where two rivals fight until one of them hits the ground. In the 1960s, kickboxing became very popular. Boxing originated in 688 B.C. where opponents would just use their hands to fight and the winner was announced when the other was knocked unconscious. It is crucial that you know how to box when the fighting is in close quarters, but it doesn't do much good if your opponent knows other techniques of fighting that you don't know.

Another discipline of mixed martial art that is close quarter is Judo. There's no punching or kicking but typically grabbing and throwing your opponent. If you're unable to do this, then a grappling move can be used to immobilize the opponent. Judo's requirement to overcome the other fighter by leverage, clinches, holds and locks are much like wrestling. Opponents are forced into submission in jujitsu by using choke holds and locks, as it is focused on grappling and ground fighting. These are not the only martial arts forms, and to master any of them, you've got to find a coach at a gym that can teach you. When you first start, you'll not be doing any sparring. To be able to be successful, you ought to be in a class with other students to practice with.

To have professional instructors, you need to choose the right gym at the right price. You're going to be essentially wasting your money if you don't look around. A lot of classes offer one free lesson so you can determine if it is for you so do as many as you can before you make a decision. Any martial art will help you to stay in good shape and teach you to take care of yourself. You won't need to worry about putting on weight since the training is very intensive and good for your health.

The most fit professional athletes across the world are in mixed martial arts. That's the reason training in mixed martial arts is a great way to stay in shape along with a healthy diet. If you want to become a pro in mixed martial art, there is so much to learn.
