SpongeBob SquarePants is an American animated television series which was created by marine biologist. It has been animated by Stephen Hillenburg. The main character in the series is SpongeBob which has been shown in yellow colour. In all episodes adventures of SpongeBob has been shown that how he solves every problem with his great intellect and sometimes he takes the help of his friends. The first episode of SpongeBob SquarePants was telecasted on Nickelodeon in 1999.

In the show it has been shown that SpongeBob and his friends live underwater in the city of Bikini Bottom. The show was liked by teen audiences and kids so much in short time that it reached vast popularity by 2000. After that it has also been listed on 15th rank in IGN's top 100 animated series list. Tom Kenny gave his voice to this famous animated character when Hillenburg approached him. A feature film has also been released in 2004 which made a big hit to cinemas. It is currently aired on Nickelodeon's as its surprising that this show has been airing on the same channel for past 13 years. SpongeBob SquarePants is shown a character which lives underwater with his friends. He is very energetic, helpful and optimistic. He has a pet snail named Gary and it is very interesting character. The reason is that his voice is like a cat though he is snail. Another friend of SpongBob is Patrick Star who lives two houses down from SpongeBob. He is latter’s best friend and Pink in appearance. He thinks himself very smart and intelligent but every time he does something wrong which creates problem for SpongeBob.

Another close friend of SpongeBob is Sandy Cheeks who is a squirrel and cannot breathe under water. Though she is squirrel but she is expert in Karate. Squidward is SpongeBob's neighbor and co-worker too who does not like SpongeBob and his friends because of their childish behaviour. SpongeBob SquarePants episodes are full of entertainment and a person of any age group can watch it without feeling bored.

SpongeBob and Squidward's work at Krusty Krab restaurant. Mr. Krabs is the owner of the restaurant and his daughter is a whale fish. Their opponent is who always tries to steal the recipe of Burgers from them but every time his efforts go in vain.

This show gained so much popularity that Nickelodeon renewed it second season. Beginning with this season and now it has entered in 9th season. Once this show faced the problem regarding the name then Stephen Hillenburg added Squarepants to it but did not change the name.
