Calling From the Comforts of Home

by Kayla Tyler

So you think you have good communication skills but don’t see yourself working in a typical contact center office setup? Fortunately for all the interested applicants, home-based call center job-opportunities are now up for grabs. The trick is finding the right one for you given your knowledge and skills. Read on to know whether being a virtual call agent is truly your calling.

It’s All About the Skill

Virtual call agents can work under any of the three main industries: Customer Service, Technical Support and Sales. Aside from a good speaking voice and a pleasant personality, a little experience in the above-mentioned fields is also a major requirement. You may be required to have knowledge in computer software experience in selling products depending on the account you’re applying for or that will be assigned to you. Consider these requirements before you submit your applications to employers or have an Avaya phone installation.

Make sure you are fully aware of the job description and what it entails and don’t just have a cat6 cable installation at home right away. It’s good that you’re aware of your capability and your specific area of expertise. The last account you’d want to be assigned to is IT if your knowledge in computers is next to zero. Some accounts also have language requirements. The most common languages are Spanish, Chinese, Korean, French and Arabic. Do some bit of self-assessment and be honest with yourself in terms of your qualifications.

Finding the Right One

If you have assessed yourself well enough and figured you can make the cut, the next step is to find the right job opportunity which can be easily done online. Here are a few home-based call center jobs that more or less won’t require you to have the typical call center structure that requires Avaya partner installation or Avaya IP office installation. • Hilton Hotels – handle reservations and customer service for the internationally acclaimed hotel chain while in the comforts of home. Aside from your hourly pay, you can also get sale incentives. • 1-800 FLOWERS – you need to be a resident of any of the top US states New York, Florida, Texas, Virginia, Ohio, Oklahoma and New Mexico to be able to work full time for the company. • LiveOps – get paid per minute when you become a contractor responsible for customer care, sales and billing. • Working Solutions – perfect for those interested in part-time jobs, even for interested applicants outside the United States. Take their online exam and wait for further notice if they have projects available for you.

If you’re pretty sure you have it in the bag then by all means have a cabling installation done in your house. Remember, work hard play harder.
