Model railroads

Model railroads have captured followers for so long. It is a common way to spend time and to express your talent. There are many several aspects of model railway other then just collecting the locos. The model railroad hobby also includes building mini scenes as well as learning all the knowledge that goes along with model trains like gauges, manufacturers and scales.

The model railway scale refers to the size of a scale model train to the large real prototype. The four most famous scales of model railways are G scale, O gauge, HO gauge and N scale. G scale, which has a ratio of 1:29 to 1:22,5 and the O scale which has a dimension of 1:43 to 1:50 are grouped together into the larger-scale model railway category. HO gauge has a scale of 1:87 and it is half the size smaller then the O gauge. HO scale literally stands for half an O gauge. The N gauge has a ratio of 1:160 and is a half a dimension smaller then the HO scale. Other less common gauges are the S gauge, the TT gauge and the Z gauge . The S gauge has a scale of 1:64. TT gauge has a scale of 1:120, which is slightly larger, the N scale. And the Z gauge has a dimension of 1:220, which is even smaller, the n the N scale .

When model railroad followers talk about gauge, they are referring to the dimension of the track between the two rails.

HO Scale

The given name H0 is derived from the result that its 1:87 gauge is approximately half that of 0 gauge which was the smallest of the series of older and larger 3, 2, 1 and 0 scales released by Märklin around 1900. In most English-speaking markets it is pronounced "aitch-oh" and written with the letters H and O today, but in German it is pronounced "hah-null", and still written with the letter H and numeral 0.

H0 or H0 is the famousts gauge for model trains in the world. HO is 1:87 scale.

N Gauge

N gauge is the 2. most modeled scale of model railroad on the globe. N is 1:160 to 1:150 scale.

The name N is created from the result that its 1:160 scale is about half that of H0 scale which was the smallest of the series of older and larger 0, 1, 2 and 3 scales introduced by Maerklin around 1900. N scale was released from Arnold the german producer in the 60's.

G Gauge

G gauge is a scale for model railway, and because of its size and durability, G scale is very often used outdoors. Such installations are known as garden railways.

O Scale The name for 0 gauge and 0 scale is derived from 0 (zero) gauge or Scale 0, because it was smaller than Scale 1 and the other existing gauges. It was introduced in part because producers realized their best selling model trains were the smaller gauges.

Model railway is a nice way to spend time.
