Creating Homemade Cards
Every now and then you may not feel like taking out all your craft supplies and pictures but you still wish to create something. A good solution is making cards! Cards don't take as much time as creating a scrapbook page. And you can make a whole bunch in one sitting. Cards can be used for every occasion; birthday, thank you, anniversary, etc. Everybody likes receiving a card especially when they're hand made and it looks like the person spent time making it.
Making the Card- cut a 8 1/2x11 piece of paper in half so that it measures 5 1/2x8 . Score it at about 4 . Fold it in half. Use the scrapbooking supplies to decorate the front like patterned paper, stickers, die cuts, just to name a few. A helpful tool to use is a book of quotations. Locate a nice quote to go along with the theme of the card and write it either in the front or the inside of the card.
It's helpful to make multiples of the same card so that you wont have to make one every time you need one. Its good to have a supply. A way to organize your supply of cards is to get a shoebox and place dividers in it with all the different labels (i.e. birthday, graduation, etc.) Keep the correct size of envelope in the shoebox so that they are constantly on hand.
Creating cards is often just as enjoyable as scrapbooking. If you get one terrific idea for a card, you can make a lot of the same cards. You could even take that idea and change it to do another subject, just modify a few of the elements. Try card making one night instead of scrapbooking and see what you come up with!
