Paper Craft Ideas for Families Who Are Busy

by Autumn Lockwood

Although you might love working on crafts together as a family, busy work schedules and hectic lifestyles can sometimes make it difficult to enjoy this fun activity. But simply running not having much doesn't mean that you must give up these enjoyable activities entirely. The key is simply choosing crafts that are fast, easy and inexpensive. When considering quick crafts that require only cheap supplies, it's hard to beat paper craft projects. If you'd like to plan a craft night for your family within the next few weeks, here are some paper crafts that you will be able to do even if you're running on a tight schedule and price range.

Scrapbook Night

Many women initially think that men and children do not share their passion for scrapbooking. However, in a lot of cases this simply isn't the way it is. Scrapbooks can be fun for almost everyone, especially since there are so many options to pick from when creating them. You can be excited about documenting a special occasion or a holiday, for example, while your husband may want to make a scrapbook all about his favorite hunting trip. Children often enjoy creating a scrapbook that includes their favorite cartoon characters or teen idols. Scrapbooks can also be a perfect alternative for families who don't have sufficient space on their walls to display all the pictures they like best.

Scrapbooks function well as a family craft evening project because they may easily be worked on a little at a time. And if you would like the process to become even simpler, you may wish to make a creativity kit for all of your family members. All of the things that you need can be stored in a tote or even a plastic box. You will want to include a good adhesive, some good scissors that are safe for the age of the person using them, some sort of coloring materials, a ruler, and also some different decorations. You might also designate one large box of assorted papers and cardstock which will be meant for everybody to share. When your night of crafty family fun comes around, all you need to do is cover your table with some kind of plastic tablecloth and you're ready to go.

When making scrapbook pages, it's important to remember that there will be times when you might produce a page that's just too extraordinary to hide in a scrapbook. When this does happen, it can be a great idea to display your most loved pages in picture frames instead. By doing so, you'll be able to get even more satisfaction from your creation. If you want to do this then it would be wise to select an album that will make it easy for you to put in and remove pages with little hassle.

Fun with Origami

Yet another wonderful craft for your entire family to enjoy is the art of origami. You may use some of those small scraps of paper that you have remaining from other crafts for your origami. While there is special paper designed just for origami, it is not difficult to find other kinds of paper you can use for it instead. It is particularly nice if you can locate fun scrapbooking paper that has designs on both sides. All you need to change simple pieces of paper into expertly crafted creations is an origami instruction booklet from a nearby bookstore or your local library.

So pull out that paper, gather your family members, and get started having the best time you've had in a while!
