It Is Time To Pursue My Dreams
"It had been twenty years in a boring government job, when I made a commitment to myself that I would take no more. My husband and I have enough money put away that I really don't need to work anymore. I now want to follow my passion, which is to cook. I will now run my own culinary television program. But first, I had to acquaint myself and get used to using my brand new equipment. I studied online forums and chat rooms, and I was quickly making my own podcast. I was blown away at how simple all of this really was. Once I got the hang of getting everything ready to go I could leave the camera and the computer alone and simply focus on cooking and entertaining my virtual audience.
The first taping ended up going extremely well. I created my Grandmother's celebrated cabbage dish. Although I love the cooking part, I also enjoy talking with the audience about all the diverse aspects of the cooking process in a witty way. When I was a child I always wanted to be a comedian but somehow that pipe dream got passed along. This was my shot at experiencing desires that I had always aspired to.
It really ended up just being very easy for me on camera. As I cook and chat, I get so wrapped up in the experience it seems like I am performing for a live audience. In some ways, there absolutely is this audience there. Since I chose the high definition camera, I am aware that everyone can see all the details, so I speculate if they feel like I am right with them too.
So far I've brought together a circle of followers. The numbers seem to be always getting larger day after day. Up until now, I have been able to manage doing three different videos a week. As more people get interested, I get more ideas and thoughts about improving the show. I would really love to be able to create an episode at least five times a week. It would be very interesting for my fans to watch every day after work. If I persevere, I'm positive I can do it."
