A Diet That Taste Great

The New Mediterranean Diet Plan

by Sveinung Skoglund

Let’s face it: unless you are one of those people who are unfortunate enough to suffer from any one of the various eating disorders that have recently made headlines all over the world, chances are that you love to eat. And we are here to tell you that there is no need to feel bad about that. After all, and this is not to make light of the aforementioned people who suffer from eating disorders, food is one of life’s greatest pleasures and there is very little in this world that can compare to the satisfaction of a well-prepared meal or a tasty snack that hits the spot at just the right time.

The problem of course is when you consume far more calories than your body can reasonably metabolize at any given time. Aside from the constant elimination (which hopefully happens on a regular basis) a significant amount of the food that you take into your body has nowhere to go and more likely than not settles into the usual places; your abdomen, under your arms, your derrière etc. There is a large chance that this unwelcome scenario will result in undesired effects. That extra large pizza with double cheese and a large serving of pepperoni for example will probably end up taking residence in your thighs and hips…not a very pleasant thought at all; surely much less pleasant than those happy feeling you had while you were wolfing down that pizza and chasing it with a big cup of soda! We haven’t even mentioned the effect that such a diet will have on the other parts of your body, such as your heart and your arteries.

While the effects on these organs will likely not be noticeable for many years to come (surely not as noticeable as when you put on that ever tightening piece of clothing!), they are potentially more serious and if unchecked can cause some life threatening conditions that you would do well to avoid.

Ok so that’s enough making you feel bad; we all know that eating is great yet it can result in unfavorable health conditions. The question that now remains is: what is there to do about it?

Exercise of course is one of the best things you can do to improve your health and well being, not only in the physical sense but also mentally. We strongly encourage that you consult your physician to find an ideal exercise and fitness program for you. But food is what we are here to talk about and the good news is with a diet that is rich in healthy fats, fish, olive oil, nuts and seeds, fresh fruit, vegetables, you can eat practically as much as you want and still maintain your health and fitness. The Mediterranean Diet Plan is one such diet that conforms to these guidelines and its success has been well documented by thousand so people all over the world. Aside from tasting great, this diet also relies heavily on essential fatty acids and antioxidants, which means that its good for your cholesterol levels as well as your heart.
