The A Board Outside The Store, Still As Effective Today As Yesterday

by Timothy Capper

There is no doubt that online shopping is taking control of the market place but people still enjoy shopping in the high street or market town. The trusty A board sign still has a place in todays footfall businesses, it informs, it offers, it entices.

What are A-Board Signs?

A-Boards are signs shaped like the letter A, kind of like an A-Frame home shape. These kinds of signs stand up easily on any flat surface and have sufficient room on them for lettering. Most of these types of signs consist of plastic materials, but some are obtainable in other kinds of materials. Plastic seems to last longer than any other type of material and the signs are easier to move around because they are lightweight.

Varieties of A-Board signs are on the marketplace today. Each business prefers its own style of A Board, chalkboard if specials are advertised daily as they are easy to wipe clean, slotted letter A board provide an easily changeable format but with a professional print and then the erasable markers, but a near artist skill can only make these look professional. Another kind of A-Board sign available today is one that allows a business owner to put up posters. As well as the number of different types of signs available, they come in a vast array of sizes too.

When customers walk by a place of business, they like to see what is inside before they go in. If a company does not show them what they have to offer, customers will not know and will walk right on by.

If a company has sufficient space on the outside of their place of business, one method that works well for advertising the products and/or services is placing A-Boards outside, in a place where it will not obstruct traffic or cause a dangerous situation. When placing A-Board signs on the exterior of the business, it is important to think about safety of pedestrians. In addition, businesses can change their displays daily weekly or monthly to suit the product it is advertising.

A Business can display their special offers on a boards for passing trade. Customers attracted into the store because of the offer have a higher chance of purchasing a product that was advertised outside the store.

Some customers might walk in and browse around or ask questions about items or services, but most people do not like to ask questions. The majority of consumers want to know ahead of time what companies offer to them.

If several people walk down the sidewalk where a business is located, A Boards should be very effective business promotion tools. During this time of economic downturn, retailers have struggled to make sales since most of the buying public is wary of spending any excess capital on items that are not of immediate need. This has caused a lot of small business owners to lose money. The large spending gambits are now a thing of the past as more and more consumers are shopping wiser now, with less emphasis on frills and more on necessities.

The more savvy businessmen are stating to realize that a whole new breed of consumers is now a larger part of the buying public, so their efforts to effectively promote their goods and services are now undergoing some drastic changes. Attracting a a customers attention and then keeping it, is more likely to lead to a sale where value is percieved. This means that signs in and out of the store must make it easy to locate any item that a customer needs or wants at this point in time.

One really great strategy that is being used by more businesses is to have pavement signs out in front of their store. This not only attracts motorists, but passersby and pedestrian traffic as well. These can be used to promote any sales or specialty items that are currently being featured inside of the store. They essentially act as a guide or pointer, indicating where to go for those people interested in this particular product or service. It is important that these are located prominently and clearly indicate where the business is located.

In eras gone by, sandwich boards would be a normal part of the sidewalk scene, but these became outmoded with new technology replacing the human variety. But with more people seeking deals on any kind of product or service, a new or innovative way to grabbing their attention is what is needed for any business that is facing the hardship of an economic downturn. This is one reason that pavement markings have become an innovative solution.

Customers that enter a store because of an offer printed or written on the A board have a higher conversion rate because they were attracted by the offer, if the product, promotion is as stated then the sale is ususally converted. This means that the promotional item needs to be somewhere close to the front of the store since customers will want to check this out immediately before they lose interest and wander off.

Therefore, smart business people realize that having the proper signs to clearly show where the various categories for sale are located in the store is important too. In specialty shops, this is vital to move the prospective patron to the proper department. They will likely purchase something if the customer service level is up to par. Clear signage will help to augment the pavement markings, ensuring that a proper shopping experience will happen for any patron who wanders in off the street.

It doesn't matter what type of promotion is being run, a pavement marking system can help to promote any campaign and increase the chance of making a sale.
