Motherhood Has Broaden Her Horizon
The month of May is fast approaching and flowers are gathered to honor the feminine in every mother, not to forget that May is month of flowers.Years of experience and sacrifice have added color to the life of a sixty-nine year old mother and grandmother. Needless to say, her life’s story is indispensable to me and perhaps to some people who have witnessed her ascendancy to a not so comfortable but stable and peaceful living.She gave birth to eight children, all alive and professionals in their own capacity. She could have enjoyed more the happiness of seeing her children successful in their fields of interest if not for the unexpected death of the husband- equally caring and God-fearing man. It was a difficult responsibility for a widow to raise eight children whose ages then ranged between 0-16. But thanks for the people who stood by her in taking good care of four girls and four boys.There were times of financial difficulty and uncertainties in the future of the family. Friends and relatives came to offer moral and financial support to the family. There were times that some personal interest had to give way for the welfare of every family member. Nevertheless, every inch of suffering and sacrifice had paid off after a long tumultuous journey of endurance and patience.Life, according to her, is a constant change and seemingly a wheel of fortune and misfortunes. Yes, even people change- habits, attitudes, perceptions and the like- in order to survive over trials and difficulties in this earthly life. She still has her share of disappointment over some things and some people who either could not or refuse to understand her. But in a way, some problems that rose have helped her to become a more understanding, helpful and God-fearing woman, teacher and mother, rolled into one. Some people have also started to realize the things she has been teaching are indispensable, thus, those people have accepted their need to seek her motherly advice to men and women. What completes her happiness and life is to see her daughter back in her arms with a bonus around, a healthy baby boy. Some things started to take course so as to make the family atmosphere more lively and peaceful. This woman has once more proven her horizon to be as wide as the horizon we see beyond the seas.Tomorrow is unpredictable and yet this woman has achieved a certain degree of success and happiness which she has dreamt of.
