Google Plus And Your Brand Marketing
Being in its infancy Google plus still has a few bugs and issues that need to be ironed out, but that does not mean it cannot benefit a small business, large business. In fact a small business has the perfect opportunity now to get on board with Google + whilst the slumbering corporate giants dither. Even though Google + still has a limited amount of people testing it, google + still managed to refer more people then LinkedIn
One company demonstrates this point with its referral numbers to its company blog. This company found that LinkedIn referred 9.9 percent of the traffic it received in one week, Twitter referred 25.6 percent, Facebook referred 27.4 percent, but Google+ referred 37.1 percent.
The numbers for this particular company show the effectiveness of Google+, but it also shows that these small businesses can have these amazing results without having to spend any extra money. The company had to spend advertising dollars on Facebook and Twitter to receive the referral traffic in the percentages listed above, but when this company added Google+ to its advertising tactics, it only had to place a Google+ button on its websites.
Google+ appears to be just the advertising tactic that people who are performing online marketing need to engage, even though this story is based on one case study that receives 250,000 visitors each month. But other businesses have now been warned that if they decide not to begin looking into Google+, they will be missing out on significant increases in the traffic their websites receive.
The small business owner from above believes that Google+ has two advantages that other social networking sites currently don't have. The first is that it's new and this means that it doesn't have as much competition as the bigger social networking sites. The second is that because Google+ knows what not to do because they have other social networking websites to refer to, it can avoid making the costly mistakes that those websites made when they first started their operations.
Another important point the small business owner has discovered is that traffic that comes from Google+ is much more valuable than the traffic that comes from Twitter. He found that only 59 percent of the 175 million followers on Twitter will visit his site, but that the 20 million users of Google+ are more likely to visit the site because they are doing something new and different and a perfect avenue for online marketing.
This particular small business owner determines how interested these referred people are in his site by the amount of time they spend there. From this statistic, he doesn't consider the impact that the social networking sites StumbleUpon and Reddit have, because the traffic from these sites doesn't spend a lot of time on his site. The average amount of time for these people is three to five seconds.
The exception is the traffic coming from LinkedIn who, on average, spend more than a minute on his site. Traffic from Twitter spends 50 seconds, people from Google+ spend 40 seconds and those coming from Facebook spend 30 seconds. All social media avenues are beneficial to brand marketing.
