Hair loss during pregnancy can be stopped

Most women who have been pregnant at a point in their lives would willingly let you know that pregnancy has the innate ability to change a woman's body and the way she feels about herself. Even though it is obvious that the pregnancy phase is just temporary, most women go through a lot of trauma as a result of their changed looks. One of the varied changes that occur at that time is hair loss during pregnancy. Mind you that this does not happen to all the women. In fact, some women are lucky to be gifted with growing their hair at a faster rate during pregnancy than when they were not heavy.

However there is another group women who are not so lucky and suffer from hair loss during pregnancy. These are the people we want to look at today and discuss the issue about. So, if you are pregnant and have the unfortunate incident of losing your beautiful hair and have been wondering what might just be the reason for it, this article is for you. If you are not a victim of hair loss during pregnancy but know someone who is suffering from it, you might just want to do the person a good turn and pass this article to her.

Not all the changes that occur during pregnancy are good. Some can sometimes be for the better. Most women suffer from morning sickness which ironically may not occur in the morning. Another common occurrence is mood swings. Not left out too are pains, constant aches in the bones and waist particularly, excessive food cravings and so on. In summary, the body of the woman goes through considerable pressure.

In all these, where is the place of hair loss? In answer to that, you should realize that because of the consistent change, parts of the body become sensitive. This includes your scalp where the hair follicles are present. Because the body is going through rapid changes, one of the important hormones in the body called oestrogen becomes increased in quantity. This quickens the body metabolism which in turn influences the production and breakdown of nutrients in the body. Parts of these nutrients are rushed to the scalp where there is a concentration of the hair follicles. This presence of abundant nutrients then increases the rate of hair growth resulting in hair fall out. Increased hormonal activity in the body too stimulates the growth of the hair faster and therefore results in the woman losing her hair faster than she can regrow it. Please note that there are other causes of hair loss during pregnancy. This will be concluded in the second part of this two-part article.
