Holidaying in France

France is definately one of the most romantic countries in the world, tranquil gardens and quiet landscape interspersed with vineyards and hamlets. The beautiful architecture has been a particular speciality from centuries past,and today, France is still one of the most frequented countries in the world.

When visiting the South West it is easy to understand the stories of chivalry and elegant lore. Wines produced in this area, scattered with 18th century buildings, are reputed to be some of the finest in the world, grapes ripened on a land with a great deal to 'tell the world'. Whilst holidaying in France it is easy to imagine the influence of the Vikings ships, the Romans occupation and the British castles over the time, as the French loved their customs, developing a people and a nation who loved their culture. The famous Notre Dame Cathedrale in the capital was constructed during the 12th century and in the turmoil of change, the Louvre was first used as a fortress. These 18th century buildings frequently receive many visitors, and display the change in French culture over the centuries. Regardless of who was ruling the country the French remained uniquely proud of their country drawing the world to their way of life century after century, and still, to this day.

The city of Bordeaux is most beautiful with both vineyards and great architectural value. The Cathedrale St. Andre is located in Bordeaux, this historical cathedral has a wall built in 1096. There are other historical churches located close by. The Quartier Saint Eloi entertains the Great Bell of the City. There are quaint places to stay, and travel is convenient. Another site of outstanding beauty in Bordeaux is Pont de Pierre, a lovely bridge that was built by Napoleon. Visiting some of the country's museums are absolutely marvellous, and Mont St Michel, is quite spectacular.

Hotels and cafes are in abundance and will easily take care of the desire for a delicious snack and a comfortable hotel in the French tradition. France is recognized around the world for its food, the city of Bordeaux will not disappoint, an active nightlife and artistic events are always on hand. Driving to this city of France is easy and to fly is not seriously expensive. Trains are exceptionally convenient in France and a great way to get to Bordeaux quickly and efficiently. The trip to Bordeaux is about three hours and leave on a schedule of every two hours from Paris.

No trip can be taken to France without enjoying the cuisine. France has such a variety of cheeses, breads and pastries of all kinds. The food menus can be compared to, fine works of art executed by the finest artist in the world, except that they are edible. Whilst in Bordeaux fine dining is a must. Visiting some of the area's wonderful castles and some of the finest wineries in the vicinity. The hotel concierge can be a most useful help to find local tours or go online. The whole experience of visiting France can be very pleasurable. Revel in the late spring before the temperature is too hot or in October when the Autumn arrives, crowds will lessen and visiting sites at your own pace, will give you the time to reflect on the sheer beauty of this wonderful country and enjoy the many pleasures that France has to offer.
