Laptop Accessories
Laptops and other mobile computing devices are extremely useful and quite often come in very handy. It makes a world of a difference to have easy and immediate access to any data for work or a list of addresses or your organizer. While these nifty little devices deliver less performance for the same amount of money as Desktop PCs, they are still mighty popular simply because they allow you to carry your work (or play) with you. However, there is one very annoying problem about mobile computing, whether you have a laptop, a notebook, a PDA or a smart phone, it is supremely difficult to find an accessory that not only meets your needs but is also compatible with your mobile device. This is mainly because unlike Desktop PCs which usually come in a standard form factor (such as Intel's ATX form factor originally designed in 1996) laptops are usually highly customized and therefore the process of upgrading, repairing or even finding the right accessory for your laptop can be quite the task. While finding accessories compatible with the hardware of your laptop or notebook or any other such mobile device is a significant problem, the task of finding a device that is also compatible with the software or Operating System (OS) running on your device makes it even more frustrating. For example, just when you think you have found the perfect foldable keyboard or mouse you read the requirements to find that it is only compatible with devices running MS Windows Mobile. Some companies have attempted to create devices that are universally compatible however they are not completely successful due to the sheer variety of software and hardware used. For example some laptops and other mobile devices use a Linux based OS whereas others use a Windows based OS. Similarly some mobile devices use a Firewire based data transfer system whereas others use a USB based data transfer system. Other problems may arise due to say the lack of IR (Infra Red) connectivity or lack of Bluetooth connectivity. So why go through all this hassle you ask? Why else but to extend your mobile computing experience of course. You might go to a jungle and stay connected to the Internet by getting a Bluetooth device or wireless card or EDGE card and connect to the net through your mobile phone (provided you mobile network provider has coverage for that area of course). Similarly GPS devices or webcams or even carrying cases may enhance the usage of your laptop or PDA. Most people find it quite awkward to use the touchpad even for normal use and prefer using mice or other pointing devices such as a stylus (if compatible). Similarly a laptop's keyboard is often awkward to use because most people are accustomed to conventional keyboards whose keys are larger and spread out over a greater area. Some sites on the net offer comprehensive information regarding compatibility and provide customer support so that you can be sure that the accessory is compatible with your device before purchasing it and this is one such.
