What Covers Are Available For Splasher Pools?

Above Ground Solar Covers

Manufactured using a strong, pliable material similar to a bubble wrap, solar covers are very effective at helping to heat your water. The suns rays will heat the water without a cover, but without a cover most of this heat will be lost due to evaporation. Use of a solar cover will provide heat gain when the pool is not in use, absorbing the heat from the suns rays to gently heat the water during the day. The solar cover also has a role to play at night, reducing the evaporation and heat loss. The problems caused by evaporation cannot be understated, primarlily heat loss, constant water topping up and replacement of lost chemicals. Using a solar cover has other benefits too, such as helping to prevent debris entering the pool water, which means less cleaning. Solar covers should be fitted at all times when the pool is not in use.

Solar covers can be made in any size and shape and are available in a wide range of colours and weights from an economy 200 micron to a heavy duty 500 micron. Colours vary from a plain blue/blue to a blue/silver and even a plain black. Covers are used by placing the bubble side down to the water, and should either be manufactured to fit the pool shape or trimmed to fit with scissors. A correctly fitted solar cover is one of the most efficient ways of reducing heat loss from a swimming pool overnight. For pools which have the benefit, and luxury, of heated water the use of a cover to reduce heat loss through evaporation, convection and conduction is essential.

Above Ground Winter Covers

As the cold weather sets in winter protection is vital for any pool. Use of a winter debris cover helps to keep dirt and debris out of the water, whilst also protecting the pool from UV damage. Problems such as staining and corrosion can occur if debris is left to linger in the water. This causes extra work when re-opening in the Spring time.

At the end of the summer we recommend that you follow our winter closedown procedure to protect your pool as much as possible. This includes properly cleaning the pool, chemically treating the water and fitting a debris cover.

Debris covers have a drain in the centre, which allows water to pass through but prevents debris entering too. This means the cover does not become weighted down with rainwater and sag into the pool. As the covers are also opaque, the water is kept in the dark, inhibiting algae growth and helping to keep the water crystal clear.

Winter debris covers are made from a durable vinyl, which overlaps the pool edge, and held in place by rope ties. When the cover is suspended over the water, it creates an insulating effect due to the protected layer of air between the cover and the water. This helps to prevent formation of frost and the resultant damage that it can cause.
