by Kate Manheaven

No matter how good and compelling your marketing materials are if you cannot get a positive response from your target customers, then your materials are good for nothing. It is important to remember that customers buy products that they know will benefit them. So, unless your materials are able to convey the benefits of your products, you can’t expect people to notice you.

One of the great ways to showcase your products and its benefits these days is with the use of calendars. People use calendars all the time. Its one business and personal item that is always resent in homes and offices. Whether it is a business card calendar, wall calendar, or tent calendar, it surely is an indispensable and convenient point of reference.

But before you distribute your business calendars are you confident that you have designed it well? Does it deliver your benefit and basic information effectively? Here are lists of things you need to think about in your calendar design:

• Decide on the type of calendar to print. When it comes to calendar printing, your options are limitless. You can create wall, bookmark, sticker, tear off, or magnet calendars depending on your purpose. Each type of calendar varies in sizes, so you need to think carefully how to place all your information in the calendar.

• Effectively showcase your business in the calendar. Calendars are actually one of the items people look at on a regular basis. For this reason, it is critical that you place your business name, contact information, especially your products and services in areas people see easily. It’s also a good idea to place your logo or slogan on top to build brand recognition. If people see you

logo regularly, they get familiar to it.

• Choose the images carefully. As much as possible, use your logo or products as images. You can highlight one product and put it on top or in front. If you are creating a wall calendar, you can use a different image for each month. Make sure to choose carefully.

• Choose the best printer. Printing actually takes up most of the budget. If not chosen carefully, printing your calendars alone can make a run for your money. So, it’s extremely important to choose the right printer. Make sure to do your research and ask for samples from the printers you are considering to determine whether they fit your criteria. Ask also about their pricing scheme and the discounts they offer.

• Offer a discount in your calendars. A good way to get good customer response is to give them a reason to go to your store or contact you. For instance, you can consider adding discount coupons in your calendar for customers to use monthly or quarterly. You can put a tear away part at the bottom of your calendar which your customers can tear off to avail of your discounts. Without a doubt, such scheme would increase customer response.

Keep in mind that your calendar is intended for a 12-month shelf life. So, be sure to choose designs that people would love to put on their desk. In addition, choose a durable paper stock to keep the calendar from deteriorating prematurely. A poor and unreliable design would only give you a poor image, so be sure to project professionalism in your calendars. Don’t let them be quickly thrown in the filing cabinet or the trash bin. Design them carefully and effectively.
