Bird Watching Videos

Many families entertain the idea of getting a pet at one time or another. Sometimes it is the children that insist that their lives will not be complete without a friendly pet to have fun with.

The first thing you need to do when identifying birds is to learn how to recognise a certain group of birds like warblers, flycatchers, hawks, owls and wrens. These all share certain similarities. As you get better at this you will be able to distinguish a certain species from the group as a whole. Here is a feature that is often overlooked: bird-proof door locks. You should get a cage that your bird can't escape from. Just think about what would happen if your bird escaped & was free the entire day while you're out!

The #1 thing to watch for is a cage that is sturdy, but can be broken down in a matter of 2 minutes or less, without the need for any tools. All of the top brand name bird cages have this feature.

You may find that perhaps only a few species actually inhabit that particular area. With a little preparation, you will be able to more readily identify bird species from each other. Keep a list of successfully viewed species – we’ll call this tip number two and a half.

Bird Watching Videos

On television there are various channels that feature animals such as Animal Planet, Discovery or the National Geographic. These shows don’t feature birds that often so if an individual does bird watching as a hobby - but is unable to go out often - perhaps it would be best to get a video instead.

Not every Blockbuster video store has these on their shelves. This means the individual will have to order online or become a member of a certain group to get a copy.

There are videos available for beginners that will explain the basics of bird watching as well as those that will teach how to take care of a winged creature and documentaries that feature a certain species including it’s color, characteristics, food it frequently eats and natural habitat. Some of these videos were not recorded or produced locally and may come from either Europe or Asia. This broadens an individual’s knowledge of birds that may not be found in America.

The production of videos at times is faster (or slower) than those articles printed in magazines. By becoming a member of a conservation group, a person will be able to be stay informed of those that are new so they can be ordered or purchased, then viewed at home.

The top two ways to give your bird stimulation on a daily basis are: toy hooks & playtops. There's no need to explain why toy hooks are stimulating, they just are!

Perhaps many people think that owning a bird is reserved for the wild at heart or certainly for those living in a tropical climate.

To start with this project, heat up the ice pick or whatever sharp pointed metal you are using and make a pair of holes on each side of the prescription vial, near the open end where the cap is placed. You have to make sure that they are close but not too close that the holes are covered with the bottom of the cap when it is placed on. If you are a new bird watcher, we urge you to joing a bird watching forum. If you are buying an actual antique, prepare to pay a hefty price. Be on the lookout, though, at garage sales and flea markets. Sometimes you can find an undiscovered treasure for mere pennies.

For instance, image stabilization will keep your view from shaking-very important when watching from a long distance. Other cool features include anti-fogging, low-light viewing and wide-view characteristics.

The videos are available in VHS and DVD format making it convenient for anyone who has either of these machines at home. Those who watch them often will learn to appreciate the birds and will easily be able to identify any birds seen in the forest.

The price of one video will cost $23. If the customer is able to order four or more, some of these companies will throw in an extra copy for free or will not charge for the delivery.

Some of the videos ordered may be 5 or 6 years old but the price for knowledge is negligible. This means the hobbyists will still be able to learn something since the characteristics of the birds have been studied and will not change. The only way for a bird watcher to learn more about these winged creatures is to read and study or to watch videos that have been produced. There are many on the market but they may not be as visible as those produced by Hollywood but they are there.

The challenge will be to use the resources available to find these videos so they can be viewed in the comfort of one’s home.

Powder-coating on regular powder-coated cages has Zinc and/or Lead in it, that's a fact, but good manufacturers have taken the time to discuss this with vets and other experts to determine a safe level for these minerals and the top manufacturers demand that their cages are manufactured in a way that stays inside of these standards!

There is no such thing as a perfectly manufactured cage, but there is a huge difference between the quality levels. Respectable companies will include decent warranties against defects and they'll also insure your cage against possible damages when shipping it to you.

Department stores and discount stores sometimes offer sales on bird cages. Check the advertising section of your local newspaper. The birds tail will not touch either the back or the bottom of the cage while sitting on the perch.

If you decide to choose a bird as your first or next family pet, take the time to educate your entire family on the bird. After you have taken the time to learn, teach your family important facts about the bird and about the needs the bird will have when it becomes a part of your family.
