Inexpensive Wedding Dresses Do Not Always Mean Poor Quality

You do not need to pay the family fortune to get a high quality wedding dress nowadays.

Your wedding day is without doubt a very special day in anyone's life, but it can also often be one of the most expensive days in your life. For any bride perhaps the most important thing on the shopping list will be the bridal dress and with a growing number of high quality but reasonably cheap wedding dresses on the market today it is possible to have the dress of your dreams without breaking the bank.

For a significiant number of people a wedding dress ought to be a full length white gown, which symbolizes the bride�s purity of heart and innocence, complete with train and veil first popularized by Queen Victoria who broke with the royal custom of marrying in silver and selected a white gown for her wedding to Prince Albert. This started a craze which continues today with many brides choosing white or a variation of white like cream, eggshell or ivory.

Now however we see two major shifts when it comes to weddings.

The first is a return to those pre-Victorian days during which ladies get married in simple dresses of just about any color that took their fancy, apart from black which was traditionally associated with mourning and red which was reserved for 'ladies of the night'. This also means usually abandoning the veil, which is said to be a symbol of virginity, and the train which is a trapping of royal weddings and emulates the peacock, which was formerly seen as a royal bird.

The second is a move away from the church wedding towards weddings held in a wide range of quite diverse venues, including the now popular beach wedding.

As a consequence not only do brides today have a far wider choice of color for their bridal dress but, most importantly, dispensing with the train and veil and the requirement to have a full length dress now means that brides can make their selection from a huge range of far simpler bridal dresses. For those of us who need to key a close eye on costs this is great news as informal bridal dresses are also considerably cheaper than the full length traditional white wedding outfit.

One other important point is that the move away from the traditional white wedding gown also means that you no longer have to buy your dress from a specialist bridal outfitter who, naturally, will charge you a premium price merely for the service that is provided or for the name or brand that you are purchasing. It is a little bit like a pair of running shoes � you can purchase two virtually identical pairs of shoes and pay five times more for one pair than for the other simply because it carries a brand name.

There has certainly never been a better time to go shopping for your bridal dress and the choice available today in terms of style, color and supplier is huge. It is now fairly easy to find reasonably inexpensive bridla dresses and still look like a million dollars in the dress of your dreams.
