Today, when every profession is experiencing its worst time because of the economy recession, one job that is growing its demand is the job of a medical assistant. In a recent survey it was declared as the fastest growing profession and will remains as it is for the next 10 years so obtaining cna certification is a must. A medical assistant is commonly known as a MA. They were introduced to reduce the work load of doctors, so these MAs perform all the tasks for which a doctor is too busy.
Medical Assistants perform both clinical and administrative duties. It is the duty of a medical assistant to explain the procedure and expenses of treatment to the patients. They also have to keep the record of appointments and also confirm them by calling or sending emails to the patients. It is their duty to greet the patients and help them in the procedure of admission to the hospital, filling insurance forms etc. On the clinical side it is their duty to sterilize the medical equipments do the dressing, prepare patient for treatment or laboratory tests and many other similar tasks.

It is not very difficult to become a medical assistant and you can easily become a medical assistant if you have a high school diploma. There are number of schools and colleges all over the country which allows you to get the training of a medical assistant. Standard programs include one year diploma and a two year associate degree. Most of these programs also include internships so that the student can get the actual idea of their work. These programs will prepare you for an examination which is necessary to pass, if you want to become a certified medical assistant. There are many currently working medical assistants who do not have this medical assistant certification and they have been trained on the job, but now employers demand medical assistant certification and they do not give jobs to non certified medical assistants. American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and Association of medical Technologists (AMT) are the two major associations of issuing this certification, but there are many other associations as well whose certifications are equally respected and honored.
Once you get the medical assistant certification, there would be number of jobs waiting for you. The jobs of medical assistants are predicted to get double in the next ten years. A medical assistant earns between 25000 to 40000 dollars every year depending on their experience, knowledge, efficiency and organization they are working in.
