The Most Interesting Bridal Gown Trends

by Stewart Wrighter

Trends change every year in clothing. One minute something is hot and the next minute nobody wants it anywhere near their closest. Bridal gowns are not much different. No matter how a bride tries to keep up with the changing trends, she might feel overwhelmed trying to choose her dress. There is often a gap of a year or more between getting engaged and having the wedding. This means by the time a woman chooses her clothing, the styles might have changed. This is why it is important to choose relatively classic gown with just one or two of your favorite trends. Choosing the trendiest option in the store could leave you feeling outdated and out of place on the most special day of your life. When heading to a wedding dress shop, have a few ideas in mind and be open to suggestions.

Color is one of the hottest trends of the day. It used to be that dresses were pure white, unless the bride herself was less than pure, in which case she would wear off-white. Times have changed significantly and this rule is out of date. Brides should choose their outfit based on personal taste and how they look in a color. Some women look great in pure white, while others are beautiful in ivory or beige. Colors get even wilder than shades of white these days, though, and brides are wearing blue, pink, yellow, and even red. If an all-over color is too bold for you, try a colorful accent. Dresses come with colored sashes or colored underskirts and blend the traditional and trendy into one.

Crinolines have always been worn under gowns, but these days they are a standout accessory. Many are brightly colored and offer a flash of fun under the grown. Some brides even wear rainbow colored crinolines when they are unable to settle on just one color. Crinolines can be dyed to match any color, so if you want to have a touch of color peaking from under your skirt, it is entirely possible.

Another popular trend is the eco-friendly outfit. Though the environment might not be your first thought in regard to dressing for your big day, but a lot of brides are focused on having an environmentally conscious event. If you can turn your reception into something earth friendly, why not wear clothing that offers the same benefit. Modern outfits are made of recycled fabrics and are just as lovely as the other options on the market.

Another trend is copying the outfit of a famous bride. The most popular go-to bride of the day is Princess Kate, of course. Every bride wants to look like she belongs in the royal wedding, so the dress has quickly become one of the hottest styles on the market. Brides are incorporating long sleeves, fitted bodices, and lace into their outfits in an effort to copy the princess. Styles are more modest than in recent years and brides are opting for a classic look that would be fit for a royal wedding.
