Always Choose Quality Over Quantity When it Comes to Targeted Website Traffic

by James McDonald

For almost any project, it seems that some very simple ideas can get extremely complicated over time as the project progresses. This is very true when it comes to websites and correct promotional techniques. You have a website but nobody knows about it. You have no traffic coming in because you are not in the search engines, let alone on the first three pages. Google Adwords is always an option but it could be an expensive one depending on your particular category. So, where do you begin? When it comes to actual visitors to your website, here is where it starts to become complicated:1. Do I want 'real' visitors or 'generated' visitors? In other words, do I want to make sales or improve my search engine rankings?Of course, the correct answer would be 'both.' You certainly need to make sales, that's why you created the website in the first place. But, how does one make sales if nobody knows the website even exists?'Real' VisitorsTargeted traffic - Actual people who are either searching for your particular product or service, hopefully ready to buy from you (if the price is right). This is where you make your sales, plain and simple. Bulk traffic - Visitors to your website who couldn't care less what your website has to offer.'Generated' VisitorsThese are merely computer-generated hits to your web page. No actual persons, no actual page loads, just hits registering on your control panel and getting noticed by the search engines. These are usually much cheaper than actual people visiting your site and there are numerous websites that sell relatively cheap software that can get the job done for you, over and over, for many years such as AlexaRating.com2. Which is better - 'one-way' links or 'reciprocal' links? One-way links are great if the site linking to yours is similar and has a higher PageRank but reciprocal linking could be great, too, again if that site has a higher PageRank. How To ProceedThis is what you want to do, a multi-step process:1. Buy as many bulk visitors as you can afford but in increments of no more than 10,000 at a time. The only purpose of this is to get your website noticed by the major search engines. Don't worry about submitting your website, the spiders/robots will find you.2. Start the reciprocal linking process. Join a group such as Link Metro (there are numerous others so be sure to check around) but only link with sites that are similar to yours. If you sell widgets, link only to sites that deal with widgets in some form or fashion be it selling, repairing, parts, etc.3. Buy as many targeted visitors as you can afford but, again, only in increments of 10,000 at a time. These will be people who are actually interested in what your website has to offer and your potential customers. I would buy 10k bulk the first week, 10k targeted the second week, 10k bulk the third week, and so on as much as you can. Be very careful when buying targeted traffic as there are alot of sites on the internet that promise you one thing but deliver another. Make sure you are getting what you are paying for.4. Once the search engines pick up on your links and the ever-growing hit count to your various web pages, your search engine rankings will improve which will, in turn, drive interested customers to your site.5. Begin your one-way linking strategy by checking out your competition and their links. These are the companies you will want to have linking to your website. Remember, as your PageRank increases, you will have more and more websites linking to yours for a number of reasons such as article distribution links, blogging links, etc.Of course, you can always use Google Adwords and they do say that one needs to spend money in order to earn money. The sad fact is that most of the good keywords are bought up by major corporations with budgets that are probably out of your league. Try to keep your advertising budget as low as possible so your earnings will more substantial, more lucrative, and exactly what you were looking for in the first place.
