Vacation in Daytona Beach - Exciting and Rewarding

Taking a vacation in Daytona Beach is an exciting and very rewarding experience. There is so much that the area has to offer that it would take an extended vacation to see it all. Let's explore some of the many things to do at this place, "The World's Best Known Beach."

Of course, there is the ocean. The water temperature averages around eighty degrees in the summer and seventy degrees in the winter. This coupled with the summer average weather temperature of ninety plus degrees and a winter weather temperature average of sixty to seventy degrees makes the year round outdoors events both comfortable and pleasant. However, there is the occasional cold snap from time to time. Therefore, just to be safe, bring a light jacket for those winter based times.

As far as traffic is concerned, Daytona Beach is relatively quite easy to get around in. It would actually be quite hard to get lost if you know your general directions. Just head east most of the time and you will run smack dab into the coast.

Throughout the year, there are many events that take place. Lets brush upon some of them.

Bikeweek is in February, while Biketober is in October. These are events that specifically cater to the motorcycle rider. This is when one would see thousands of them riding the local highways and streets. But, rest assured, one does not have to be one of these riders to have a good time, and many non-riders enjoy these events too.

Daytona is the official home of NASCAR. Therefore, in February, the Daytona five hundred comes to town and creates a carnival type atmosphere that is both exciting and welcomed. Coincidently, around July fourth, there is another highly anticipated and publicized race too. This also creates an atmosphere like no other.

Spring break begins in late February and continues into March. There are high school and college spring breaks that take place at these times and last for around three weeks or so.

Daytona Beach is not far from world renown places like Universal Studios and Walt Disney World. Therefore, a short couple hour drive can have you there in no time at all. Therefore, one would be able to enjoy these places, as well as the beach too.

Cape Kennedy is the home of the Space Shuttle and is a very popular tourist destination also. Daytona is just fifty or so miles north of it. Depending upon launch schedules, these launches can be seen from the Daytona beaches. However, just a short drive can place one at the launch site. Kennedy Space Center is a wonderful place to spend a day.

Of course, there are also the many shops that line the boardwalk, as well as the typical coast oriented fare. This includes miniature golf, theaters, and souvenir stands.
