Its flu season again. In the next few months you will be hearing and reading about why you need to get your 2010 influenza vaccination. Under way already the media blitz and it will escalate as the flu season comes continues.

There are two national panels who released reports that outline the recommendation for 2010 flu vaccinations. "Prevention and Control of Influenza with Vaccines," the report was insured by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this report is extensively documented with 500 or more references to published medical articles about influenza vaccines.

A team of many physicians, scientists and other influenza experts contributed to the 68 page report. You can read the report on line if you wish. The report was written by the American Academy of Pediatrics is only 14 pages long. Dr. Michael T Brady, physician in chief of Nationwide Children's Hospital and an expert in pediatric infectious diseases, along with other experts were the panel that wrote the report. Even thou the report is short its complicated reading.

Both reports recommend that all persons order than 6 months should be vaccinated against the flu. They also say to consult your own health-care provider regarding any special needs you might have about your individual health situations. Many research studies have showed that being vaccinated outweighs the risks of not being vaccinated. Thousands die annually from influenza. The death toll could be much higher if the population didn't get the flu or nose spray.

The studies have shown that most adults, who have gotten the flu shot, decrease the infection by 70 to 90 percent in most people. Immunization in children decreases the infection by 75 to 90 percent. Surviving the flu season with little or no complication is what the CDC and AAP want for everyone. .
